REGARDING LEO SALES
March 1st, 2013

Back in 1990, when I was deployed in Desert Shield and Desert Storm as a Marine grunt, some companies prioritized me items for my M16 for shipping that I purchased with my own funds. After getting out and forming Magpul in 1999, I established the same priority policy for Military and Law Enforcement, due to the requirements of their profession.

The same policy has been in place for 13 years now and has never been an issue until a few days ago. I do not support the idea that individual police officers should be punished for the actions of their elected officials. That said, I understand the concerns that some have with Law Enforcement officers getting special treatment while at the same time denouncing second amendment rights to another citizen in the same state.

With the fight in Colorado right now we do not have time to implement a new program, so I have suspended all LE sales to ban states until we can implement a system wherein any Law Enforcement Officer buying for duty use will have to promise to uphold their oath to the US Constitution - specifically the second and fourteenth amendments - as it applies to all citizens.

Now that has some horsepower behind it. I was a bit skeptical with the other smaller companies refusing sale to LEO and what effect it would have. Magpul on the other hand not selling sends a message

This is just a good company all the way around. I will happily support them for all of my evil black accessory needs in the future.

they are still a private company though. I haven't checked the lists but I don't think any big public ones have said anything like this.

True, but they're a major source of military/LEO supply.

I like that they didn't blanket all LEO. That was a issue I have had with others doing this. THere are some good LEO out there that are behind us. To the others that are against us.... well you know

And really, any LEOfficer can still buy privately, then bring in a receipt to the Chief and say "Hey Reimburse me please". I've got $100's of equipment that I have purchased myself for my work that is essential/non-essential and would or would not get reimbursed if I asked, and it's been like this for most of my jobs.

They continue to deliver, which is why I sincerely hope we don't lose them.

I'm 99.9999% sure we have already lost them.

Me too, but I am holding out for that sliver of hope, because the reality of the situation sucks way too much.

uh and us "civilians" don't? Newsfreakinflash, cops aren't anymore important to my safety as I am to myself. What's good for the gander is good for the goose.

How about requiring LEOs to be members of Oath Keepers in order to be able to buy from them?

What a fantastic, creative solution. This is how it's done.

I think that Magpul has been going far far beyond during these political issues. I applaud all they've done. They've been heroes.

But I'm not going to attack gun companies that don't promise not to sell to state agencies that have bans in their states. They have to stay in business first, or Bloomberg wins. Further, publicly traded companies have legal issues regarding announcing a refusal to accept classes of customers, inviting shareholder lawsuits, that means I'm not going to attack those that don't join in. I'll loudly applaud and remember those that do.
