I joined just to say that this is not over, and it is NOT time to fold 'em.

Read over MarkCO's thread. We spent lots of time today at the capitol with very productive conversations. The committee hearings are important to getting things on the record. The fight will be on the floor of the senate. There is so much happening, and our friends in the legislature are working hard for us. Trust me when I say hope is not lost, and that things are being impacted down there.

Now is not the time the throw in the towel.

If you write, fax, email, etc you MUST be respectful, polite, calm, and civil. They are using the nasty emails as fuel to their fire. Once you cross the line, they shut off and your message is lost. Please don't vent and give them reasons to shut off what we have worked so hard to open.

We'll see how productive they were after they vote.

I hope so, Colorado is a great place to be. The "live and let live" attitude of its people is what draws many here. I'm pretty sure not many are giving up in this forum.

Sure.

Better to judge progress incrementally in the trenches rather than at the end of the push.

They have to vote yes to all the bans, how could they continue their political "careers" unless they kiss the ass of the libtard machine, they certainly can't do it by thinking for themselves.

This is the misconception that is causing lethargy on our side. Some of the items will pass, that is true. But there are some legislators that are not going to vote party line on all of the issues. There are a good amount that are squarely on the fence, and there is a bigger number that will vote for everything. We only need three, and that's attainable IMHO.

It's the fence sitters, the ones that are not comfy in their districts that CAN be moved on some of the issues. This is why the pressure being levied is critical. If it stops now, in the 4th quarter, they will move back over.

I am simply saying that we have all made progress, and to keep it up to the end of this ordeal. Stopping now is not the answer! If you can keep writing, keep going to town halls, keep faxing and sending good letters, we may win a few issues. A few issues, would be a solid win.

The absolute worst thing we could do now would be to let up on the pressure. I know we've all been doing this writing for a while now and it gets old. Just a few more weeks!

I absolutely agreed, i just sent off another round of calls and emails. There is no such thing as a waste of time when it comes to contacting your representatives.

I just emailed each of them, my fingers are crossed that they actually even read correspondence sent their way...

When I spoke to the staffers on the Dem side, they showed me some of the data. They are recording for/against tallies, and some are read. The shorter ones are read, the longer ones not as much. They are getting flooded so hard, they are often not replying, but logging the emails. Faxes are logged differently, and have a bigger presence as they are pieces of paper. Also, actually addressing their name on the subject line helps to get it attention.

One Dem Senator told us she is getting over 1000/day on the emails, and hundreds of phone calls.

This is the email in various personally customized I sent to Every Senator email and personal email this last week and again today from a new email account I set up. Because they will note always read emails I set the subject line as : "Vote NO on Gun Control" so that they would know what was being expected of them. Please God, help them listen do the right thing by the People, Amen.

Dear Senator Giron:

As fellow Coloradoans I want to take this opportunity to let you know that my family and I appreciate the good works that you have done as a elected public servant for the citizens of Pueblo, Colorado. However, I also want to say respectfully, that myself, my wife and my daughter do not support any of the anti-citizen gun control measures that will come before you on Monday, March 11, 2013. As law abiding Colorado citizens we respectfully urge you in the strongest terms possible to keep your oath of office and vote NO on all of these bills. Please vote with the law abiding Colorado gun owners and keep Colorado and it's citizens free and independent.

SB 196--Assault Weapons ban, HB 1224--Limiting the size of magazines, HB 1229 Universal Background Checks, HB 1228 Background fees (Poll Tax), SB 197--No firearms for domestic violence offenders. Not a single one of these bills is enforceable and only creates new crime among the law abiding. This is not freedom, it is tyranny of and by government.

Thank you in advance for your NO vote on these measures that will not reduce crime but will cause an increase in crime and costly, burdensome new government bureaucratic offices. They will cost fellow Coloradoans their jobs and livelihoods, they will cost Coloradoans and the State of Colorado money that is needed for our everyday needs. These laws will not maintain a free Colorado for it's many and diverse citizens and the economic consequences will be devastating on all of us. These bills will be especially hard on women such as my wife, who is disabled and our daughter as she will be living on her own when she attends CU this fall.

Thank you for your valuable time and again, cast your powerful vote for freedom. Vote NO on all of these bills as they come before you.

Sincerely yours,

House of Murphy
Wayne, Susan & Sheelagh
State of Colorado, US

It is important to keep up the pressure. The strongest message we have is that we have the stamina to keep on this issue, and show up at the ballot box and the gun control supporters do not. Remind your house and senate reps that we will be here November of 2014 and Bloomberg/Biden will not be here.

Any indication of how far the gap between pro and anti on the bills?

Mike,

The gap is huge on the pro gun side for sure. The issue is they feel like they don't need to listen as they control everything. This was clearly shown when the Republicans went on for six hours on 1224, and not one Dem came to the well to speak. They don't have to...at least in their mind.

There have been a lot of rumblings about the Sheriffs being threatened and there is speculation that this may change things since it went public. Not too hopeful, but there is a glimmer of hope.

We'll know tomorrow. I am happy that we had two senators come over to our side, and hope that the efforts of all of us bring one more over. Pray and plan for 2014 is what I say.

wctriumph,

Good on ya. Thanks for keeping up the fight and staying civil. I know that I and many others in my little community have spent many hours at the capitol. I have learned a lot and the curve has been steep for sure. I hope, if we are unsuccessful, that we take our collective experiences into next year and into the election come late 2014. The incremental change is not over, and it will be present in 2014's session too. Stay in it!
