Can anyone tell me if Pmags fit properly in an Armalite AR10? I've heard you can only use Armalite brand mags in their AR10s?

I'm asking because I may want to pickup some .308 Pmags in the upcoming Magpul Colorado purchase program.

The new model Armalite AR10A's will accept MagPul LR20 magazines.

From Armalites website: " ArmaLite, Inc. is pleased to announce the AR-10A. This new option of the famous AR-10 will accept traditional ArmaLite “waffle” magazines and some 3rd party magazines.

ArmaLite customers asked for a choice, and that’s just what we’ve provided.

The AR-10A family of ArmaLite® firearms is functionally identical to our AR-10B family.  Operation, controls, and maintenance are the same.  However, the AR-10A family is designed to accept early ArmaLite AR-10 “Waffle” magazines and good quality magazines copied from them, instead of ArmaLite’s proprietary steel magazines that are used in our AR-10B family. Neither family of firearms will function correctly with the other family’s magazines.

We have tested, we recommend, and we ship polymer Magpul PMAG® 20LR magazines with our AR-10As.  You can purchase extra PMAG®s from our website, www.armalite.com."

ArmaLite has "TECHNICAL NOTE 101: VISUAL DIFFERENCES AMONG M15, AR-10B, AND AR-10A COMPONENTS (http://www.ar-15.co/images/Tech%20Notes/Tech%20Note%20101%20%20AR-10A%20AR-10B%20%20M15%20COMPONENTS%20120109%20Rev%201%20FIN AL.pdf)"
that describes with pictures the differences between the AR-10B and the AR-10A. You can use it to identify if a particular AR-10 can take a PMAG. An AR-10A function with PMAGS, an AR-10B will not work with PMAGS.

Here is a link to the tech note-

You'll have to copy and paste the link. I have no idea how to get it to work.
