View Full Version : Im on-time to participate on Monday?
Hi,
I have days running in my mind participate and give my experience on Monday at the Capitol. Don't decide before because my English is not the best and talk in front of people realy SCARE ME! But I'm pretty sure that if I explain in 3 minutes how restricted are the gun laws in Puerto Rico and we had 1300 death in gun crimes be the last year this maybe help to this crazy politicians.i decide now do it (maybe using a paper for read it previously prepared but now is Saturday and I don't know if I need to be enrolled or something yet.
Of course I'm new in all of this government process and for this reason I don't know if I'm on time.
I'm on-time? Please, not expeculations, I need to know for sure because a trip from Colorado Springs to Denver to the Capiton is not easy for me (actually, I don't know where is, maybe need help from my GPS.
Please some advise.
someone who did the house side probably knows better but from the ILA emails the procedure is:
show up before the hearings start
put your name on the list, get a number ticket.
There are two separate committees so you'll have to do this twice.
Wait for your number to come up and you get your 3 minutes to speak.
from the ILA email:
Details for testifying on Monday, March 4:
At 10:30, the Senate Judiciary Committee will hear the following bills in the Old Supreme Court Chamber (Room 220) of the state Capitol:
HB 1224 and SB 196
Also at 10:30, the Senate State, Veterans, and Military Affairs Committee will hear the following bills in Senate Committee Room 356 on the third floor of the state Capitol:
HB 1229, HB 1228, and HB 1226
Please make plans to arrive at the state Capitol in Denver no later than 9:45 a.m.
Once you arrive, please make your way to the respective committee rooms so you can sign up to testify in opposition to these measures. You will be assigned a number indicating the order you will be able to testify. This will allow all interested parties the opportunity to testify before both committees.
Please note, you will be limited to three minutes of testimony in each committee to address all of the bills.
and the address of the capitol is
200 E Colfax
Denver CO 80203
I have no idea how parking is downtown, do not expect it to be easy.
(something is wrong that I have that address memorized)

It is best to use a parking lot where you pay for the whole day rather than use parking meters. The meters have a limit (2 hours I think) and they will expire and you will get a big ticket.
If you really want to testify, I would recommend arriving between 8:00-9:00 to get in line.
I think I will be able to go. I'll know for sure tomorrow. If people want to carpool let me know, I can fit myself and 4 more in the Tahoe

Yeap, 1k for a CCW because you need to hire a lawyer to convince the judge that you need a gun concealed, and $500 aprox for have a simple Gun license to have a Gun in your house, additional to range membership obligated, personal tax clearance, child support clearance and a lot of more stupid requirements.
I will be there tomorrow.

I really commend you for stepping up and stating your case, despite the possible language barriers that may be present. All testimonies are much needed and appreciated by all in this fight, however I believe if we had more folks who have "been there done that" so to speak, when it comes to gun laws, the words might mean more. Thanks again to you, and all who are going to speak.

If it is similar to the process the House of Representatives had, they might ask you questions after you have completed your speech.
Thank you for speaking. I am planning to attend, but not speak.

The dems brought in the media whore Mark Kelly, guess who`ll get the"enamored" dems attention? POS ain`t satisfied to take his O6 and NASA retirement pay, her congressional windfall and her own enormous personal net worth and keep his mouth shut. Travel the country and screw up other`s lives. Another who took the oath and disregards it.
There are a lot of men out there grade O6 and higher that want to disarm us. Odierno,Sestak, McChrystal, those are just the ones in the public eye, Therein is grave danger..
