I need a little help, I have a good friend that came across a Norinco AK for a ridiculous price. Well he wanted to trade it for ammo and luckily I stopped him from trading it for 1k of xm855. I honestly don't know a whole lot about the AK platform, but I was hoping with some detailed pictures, I could get some more info from you guys that know what you are talking about. I have one pic right now, and he's going to E-mail some more tomorrow.

Here's the one crappy picture I have now....

Looks like a mak 90 with a euro side folder, based on a non threaded muzzle and typical "orange" chicom handguards. I'd give him $500 for it IF he had the correct furniture. The drum is who knows what w/out seeing the back of it. the 30rd looks liek a smooth back Made in China / norinco unit, 5 round liooks euro based on the rib on back of mah body.

what jim said. Was probly one of the late 94 imports with a thumbhole stock that got dumped after 2004 sunset.

You really need to check for 922(r) compliance. I suspect it's in need of a few parts.

He said the previous owner has the original stock for it and is supposed to find it for him, so maybe it is a thumbhole stock. I looked up 922(R) compliant, I might have to go down to his place tomorrow and do some research myself

a guess at 922(r) fixes; a us made pistol grip, tapco g2 trigger kit (get a retaining plate too), us a gas piston and a us foregrip.

Stamps on the receiver, if it's what we think it is, probly left side by the front rivets, electric pencil. Should say caliber maker and importer.

Usualy it would say MAK 90 on the side of the reciever.
Non threaded barrel and no bayo lug are a dead giveaway for a MAK90.
I dont recall what the regs are now ,but from what I remember,if your de banning it-putting on other stocks and stuff you need to have 922 parts.

H/T/S is the norm followed by P/grip, buttstock and handguards. Those items will do the trick, UNLESS he absolutely has to have a f/hider and threaded bbl. If that's the case he can either do a permanently attached US mfg f/hider which then negates the bbl as imported. Or pay to thread bbl. I might have some us parts in my spares bin. If he wants to stay with wood I have a Timberline RED US set that covers 3 US parts. add the H/T/S and he's GTG.

Looks like a standard MAK-90 w/ a Romanian or German side-folding stock. At today's prices, he should be able to get a bit more than $500 (I'd definitely give him $500 as it is ;).

I'm sure he could find some buyers/traders here that would give him a decent deal as long as he isn't wanting to jump from being ripped off to ripping others off. [pick-me]

Ok sorry guys for the delay in an update, I had to fix another busted pipe under the house today (2nd this year[facepalm]), but I got a chance to check it out and is a MAK90. It's a little rough around the edges and has a significant amount of wear but I'm trying to talk him into debanning it and keeping it. Plus it would give me a chance to learn. Jim, I might be in touch if he does decide to keep it.

Thanks for the Info everyone!
