All,
I have not been a member of this board for very long. I realize that although we may come from different occupational, educational, religous and economic backgrounds, we have at least one thing in common - the understanding that we bring good and bad into this world and we take personal responsibility for doing our part to bring in the good.
The gun control advocates do not understand that our passion for the Second Amendment is not borne of a desire to own guns or be "tough guys," but rather from a desire to assume the obligation to live up to the best qualities in human nature. Presenting a deterrent to the worst of what a would-be tyrant might attempt is a public service, even if those who oppose the Second Amendment do not always appreciate it. We enjoy the shooting sports, we like things that go "bang" and we serve others by presenting the potential to become a well-regulated militia should the time that we never hope comes along. Until such time, should it ever manifest, we will love our families, hone our skills, serve our customers, enjoy our lives and maintain our quiet vigilence. Although many of us will pass on from this life in quite ordinary ways, our intentions will have served to keep our republic a place where men and women can achieve Self government.
I will be at the Capitol on Monday and I hope to see you there too. It is my belief that if we show up in great numbers from across our state, we have the potential to stop these ill-conceived bills in their tracks. We need to give the few Democratic senators currently thinking about voting against the wishes of the White House and the far-left reasons to vote against more gun control. We need to demonstrate that we have their backs by showing up in enough numbers to send them a message they can not misunderstand.
See you on Capitol Hill Monday.
Best regards,
JVC
