I'm glad they got the gun away from the kid,

i wouldn't worry about the suspension, time off from school. Keeps the threat level down. Let's them all calm down, disarm the situation and the gossip that follows at the school to a degree until they go back.

Wow, I understand a leave of absence that doesnt count against them as long as their work is delivered to them for their safety but suspensions are out of control.

Well gee,it ruined the medias chance to slam the gunowners and push their agenda.
Cant have that now. It's all about the body count-thats what they want so they can have more sheeple sympathize for their side...

Agreed, the kid isn't being labeled as a criminal, but the term suspension should be leave of absence, as a suspension is negative on your record. Having a bad school record for saving a life? That's like being arrested for assault for disarming an armed robber.

Another superb example of political correctness. I dont care of the kids past record is he should be receiving a letter of commendation from the school and the public.[Rant1]

It's the new rules of society, we're all just supposed to sit back and let shit happen. The govt will take care of everything after the fact.

I'm surprised they didn't clean up any of the back woods English in those quotes. It was a bit painful.

Here is the message I got out of this:
"Let this serve as an example to the rest of you, being of the proper mindset to act in a situation that most people would panic and likely end up dead is being punished. We can't have our children thinking they can defend themselves or act in a way that harms another person in any way...they need to sit there and take a bullet to the face for our limp dick ideals about society." [facepalm]

Home schooling is looking more route I need to go .

My son got the same reaction when his teacher told them that fighting back would get them suspended, the teacher felt the need to call me to explain school policy, i made it very clear that he would not be a victim for them and would not be in trouble with me if he defended himself,

They should give a pat on his back, congratulate him on his man sack and move on. Suspending him is going full retard.

After reading this last sentence in the article, I wouldn't trust the writer of the article to clean anything up.

"Last month, a 14-year-old Mariner Middle School was arrested (http://www.fox4now.com/news/local/190228611.html)..."

You handled that call about 1,000x more calmly than I would have. Our society is F'ed.

They arrested a whole middle school? That seems a bit extreme...[ROFL1]

The authorities don't like it when you defend yourself. Hopefully we won't get another left wing liberal in the White House after this one is gone. I also hope the kid sues the school and wins a large settlement. Todays society is out of whack when they punish those who should be receiving a medal...

In this day and age they would probably expel Jacob Ryker : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kip_Kinkel#Thurston_High_School_shooting

When Kinkel's rifle ran out of ammunition and he began to reload, wounded student Jacob Ryker tackled him, assisted by several other students. Kinkel drew the Glock and fired one shot before he was disarmed, injuring Ryker again as well as another student. The students restrained Kinkel until the police arrived and arrested him.[5] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kip_Kinkel#cite_note-5) A total of seven students were involved in subduing and disarming Kinkel.[6] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kip_Kinkel#cite_note-6)

Nickolauson died at the scene; Walker died after being transported to the hospital and kept on life support until his parents arrived. The other students, including Ryker, were also taken to the hospital with a variety of wounds. Ryker had a perforated lung, but he made a full recovery.

Stupid should be painful and costly. But in this acse no one but the taxpayers would learn anything.
I hope the student wrongfully expelled sues the school-board members and the principal and wins a large settlement

The kid did a great thing, no question about it at all. Is the school in the wrong?.. Absolutely.

Being really enthusiastic about a huge cash settlement over it all? Disappointing.

It's because he didn't use a school-approved ball point pen, or throw his backpack at the guy. Physical violence isn't cool... might hurt the shooter's self esteem.

Which is why 9/11 happened. The passengers did as they were instructed by the gov't and complied. The only building not hit was because the plane went down. Yet 75% complied and as a result over 3500 people were killed. No, the gov't doesn't want sheep.... /sarcasm

I dunno,I can see where an emergency suspension after being involved in a weapons incident can make a smidge of sense. Defuse the situation, allow a little time to investigate and then make an objective call. Maybe they could have called it administrative leave or something.

Somebody should set up a scholarship fund (in his honor) and send this kid to private school.
