What have you tried/liked/disliked, what do you use, what should I consider?
Would primarily be used with regular shoes, not boots, but I'd like the flexibility to use it in either case.
This is NOT an airweight... good ole (stainless) steel, 24oz empty.
Are leather ones a problem with sweat, like IWB's?
Are rigid models (e.g. Kydex) uncomfortable?
Any companies with notably better elastic than others?
Strap above the calf needed or not? [I have long legs.]
Have at it... as you can see I need all the help I can get.

I like the De Santis "Apache" ankle holster.
I have used the Glaco and it was pretty bulky on the ankle. I have seen people try to use the Fobus and the kydex makes it super bulky. The boot lock one is ok but then you always have to use boots and it is slightly bulky too.
So the best one I have found is the De Santis, it is light and comfortable. It does not seem to spin around on my ankle as much as the Galco did either. It pretty much stays put. It may look cheap and cheesy but give it a try and see what you find out. I wear it with both boots and shoes and it is comfortable either way. You will find though it is going to be much more comfortable with boots.
And no I dont think that the above the calf strap is needed.
Sweat is a problem with any kind of holster and gun. You just have to maintain your stuff so it doesnt break down on ya.
I have carried a J-Frame in an Alessi for a long time now. 13+ years.
Had a J Frame in An Ankle glove on duty for years comfy and strong.

I have used the Fobus. Once I got used to it, it was ok, but a bit bulky. Would show if I wore the wrong pants.
I practiced many times trying to do a "panic draw" and just couldn't get to it fast enough. Now it sits on my desk and I use a front pocket holster. Conceales rather well, comfortable- and I can get to it pretty darn quick. Can't get it back in there worth a darn, but I guess I'll "live with it" coming out when needed and worry about reholster after the threat is gone....[Pilot]

Thanks for the input guys!! [Beer]
I'm, still chewin' on it... never heard/read anything bad about Alessi, but they're a bit spendy for me...
KC: how does the no-snap strap on the Apache (http://www.desantisholster.com/062.html) work? Can't seem to tell from photos.
Anyone washed one of the non-leather types? I'd imagine you could...
ps bob - been thinking about pocket holsters too... decisions decisions.
I have tried the Galco. Crap
Fobus Worse than Crap.
Desanatis OK
But teh one that works best for me is the Allessi. I wear it several time s aweek and it fits like a GLove. I have huge calves and it is no problem. No sweat issues and it stay in place.
