so you can get a degree online from many schools but cannot take a ccw class?

Don't you know that seeing someone talk in person is in not anyway like seeing someone talk on the internet. Clearly you can only pay attention or learn anything in person. What if you showed up to a ccw class and they just put on a video of a guy haha.

Could someone create ONE thread that summarizes all the amendments that were added to each bill?

I am search through this thread and online at it is all so confusing to find what actually was added on.

I'm not sure any of Us are even sure anymore.... have to wait till the legislature posts them in the next day or two I guess .

Cant have online CCW classes....

Cuz if they did an inperson class the instructor could see they were " not mentally stable" yes cuz all CCW instructors are qualified mental health professionals.

Just like your medical doctor is trained to educate you on firearms safety.

Just read Sen Heath asks Capitol police (the people carrying a false sense of security) for an armed escort to his car. To protect him from the angry pregnant CCW holders (who testified) and he's about to disarm?

Kind of makes your blood boil don't it!

They don't pay attention to gun-free campuses, CCW training requirements, background check fees, or mag capacity limits... I think I see a theme?

Anyone able to find that stat that Huduk or however the bitch spells it about the 83 times more likely to get hurt with her own gun or however it was exactly ..

Here's what they are MIS-Quoting

http://www.vpc.org/studies/myth.htm

n 1998, for every time a woman used a handgun to kill an intimate acquaintance in self-defense, 83 woman were murdered by an intimate acquaintance with a handgun.

They are mis quoting it as if every one of these women were armed with a handgun. That's not the case, it's just that for each one that defended herself there were 83 murdered who didn't defend themselves. The "Statistic" Has no correlation to women with CCW or gun owners in general beyond the 1 that killed in self defense.

ie: it's an utter Bullshit Lie that in reality defends our position more than theirs.

This is absolutely correct. It was a forgone conclusion that all of these would make it out of committee. Now is the time to hit them hard with letters, emails, faxes, etc.

I really thought that POS 196 would not get out of committee. The thought process was that no one is that Fvcking stupid. Wrong, 3/3 are exactly that fvcking stupid. I may be stupid also, but I still have hope that the mag ban, the liability and maybe even the backgrounds won't pass the senate. And the gall of the governor saying that 1) he isn't worried that his re-election bid would now be in jeopardy, and 2) that we are a fringe group and not representative of even the republican party. I have news for him. Not only are we representative of the republican party, but we are also made of those from other parties and his loss will be a big one because he has disenfranchised all republicans, most of the middle (libertarians), and even some dems. Another disgusted CO native.

This is what happens when the Republicans that were voted in on party lines were so terrible that they got swept out themselves and completely lost control of the State. In short, you are correct.

Sheriff Justin Smith's Final post of the day:

It’s after 11 p.m. and I've finally gotten back home. Let me share some reflections from the marathon session at the state capital today.

First, I have to say how proud I am of all the citizens, many from my county, who showed up to be heard today. If you weren’t there, but read the news accounts, you were a victim of unbelievable deception. The media accounts paint a picture of essentially equal numbers of supporters for both sides. I was there- that was not the case. I’d estimate the opponents to be at least 6-8 times the number of supporters. Don’t be fooled!

I have never been more proud to be a Colorado Sheriff than I was today. Despite tremendous geographic and budgetary challenges, we had 25-30 Sheriffs or their representatives at the capital today. We were given very few opportunities to testify, but every time we did, 20-25 Sheriffs stood together in support. To the irritation of bill sponsors and the majority party, we received several rounds of applause throughout the day. We were truly honored to represent the constituents of our counties. Only one newscast mentioned our presence today, but then they quickly “balanced” it with a mention that the police chiefs supported the bills. (I counted 1 appointed police chief and the appointed director of CBI at the capital throughout the whole day)

In the end, the majority party chose time and time again to ignore our advice and input, just as they did everyone who spoke in opposition to these bad and dangerous bills.

Rest assured, your County Sheriffs are NOT giving up the fight to protect their citizens and the rights of those citizens. We understand our duty and we take our oaths seriously!

Good night
Sheriff Smith

Except they won't vote against it.

They actually believe this crap is some sort of answer to a problem that has nothing to do with any of it.

Any bill with a "safety clause" goes into effect right away, including 1224. The bill states however that the date for further transfers is 1 July 2013. Just wanted to clear up the reason for the safety clause which is written into the end of the bill.

Not sure about the "goes into effect right away part" as this is what I see:

SECTION 2. Effective date. This act takes effect July 1, 2013.
SECTION 3. Safety clause. The general assembly hereby finds, determines, and declares that this act is necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public peace, health, and safety.

Ref: http://www.leg.state.co.us/clics/clics2013a/csl.nsf/fsbillcont/7E6713B015E62E6F87257B0100813CB5?Open&file=1224_01.pdf

Then there's this:

"If a bill contains a safety clause (meaning the bill is not subject to the citizens' right to file a referendum petition against it), the bill takes effect on the date specified within it, or if no date is specified, then upon its passage (the date on which the Governor either approves the bill or allows it to become law without his signature)."

Ref: http://www.statescape.com/resources/Effective_dates/effective_dates.aspx

So basically, July 1st, 2013.
