Nancy Todd, Senator for district 28, expressed to me today during our conversation in her office that she is on the fence with these gun control bills. I would recommend that if you live in her district that now is a good time to contact her either via e-mail or through her Facebook page (she monitors and responds there). She is focusing on district 28 citizens first, Colorado citizens second and just glancing over the ones from out of state. Be respectful, be polite. She can be swayed with logic and reason.
I am honestly impressed with her from my conversation. She is clearly terrified of guns (it showed in her mannerisms) yet she had one of her constituents take her shooting so she could learn more about what she had to make a vote on. She needs more knowledge to help her overcome her distrust of these objects. She asked smart questions of EvilRhino and I while we talked with her. She is clearly leaning towards gun control but can still be swayed. Now is the time people.

If you have FB go to her page and like the posts for saying NO to the bills. GO NOW. Then post to your FB page for your fellow CO friends to go do the same. FLOOD THAT PAGE!!!
I just finished sending her a polite and articulate email.

Tried to be as nice and persuasive as I could be. Sent two emails. One about mags in general and one saying that if HB1224 passes, when her constituents pass thru Denver, they are going to get harrassed about 15+ magazines they have.

I have heard this ...I am on the fence bullshit a few different times. What it amounted to in the end was someone who Didnt have the balls to tell you that they are against you and wanted to sound concerned and caring for your position. I call bull shit.....
I e-mailed her anyway. We'll see how well that works.

I don't know about you, but I much prefer women with no balls. The idiots who have been threatening people like Todd are the ones to thank if she votes anti-gun, not people like tmleadr03 who are working hard to make a difference.

Ok, so she scrubbed her FB page and made it so people couldn't post anything to it.
And I don't want to misrepresent what she said. She said she was still considering these bills and hadn't made a decision, but she was clearly leaning towards gun control.
Who are the other Dems that may be slightly on the fence? There has been talk that 2 Dems may be against 1224 but I can't find anywhere who they are.

What about Tochrop in Thornton? You may not like that she sponsored the ban on on-line training for CCW bill, but you have to remember that she was one of the ORIGINAL sponsors for CCW legislation back in 2003(?). Most reports are that she is gun friendly and not a typical progressive.

Jahn and Touchtrop have said many times they are voting against 1224.

Got to be honest I am not a fan of online training only for CCW. Class room and range time minimum shooting score. That is good in my book.
I sent an email to Nicholson.

You guys are right. Do what you need to do, I thank you for your efforts. I guess I am just feeling like all my efforts have fallen on deaf ears after these hearings. Sorry to be a downer.

I agree with you but as written it says any class that has a online portion will not count. A hunter safety license does qualify you to get a CCW permit. Many of these classes have an online portion because it is hard to devote 3 days to it, but you still have a day in class with live fire. I hope an amendment is made before the final vote to allow classes like this.

An amendment has been requested and text provided to some R Senators to allow a portion not in person.

I heard Senator Tochrop testify that she would look into and add amendments to the bill. She also seemed to highly value Prof. Kopels suggestions but, as seen in the house, some thoughtful amendments did not make it to the bills or the amendments did not fully cover their intended purpose. More or less what i was saying is i want to see it in writing before the final vote.

Also sent her an email- included current events, and was respectful and made specific points- I listened to expert testimony- FOR AND AGAINST, and summarized that I oppose certain bills based on that testimony- hopefully she can be swayed by logic, and has morals to ignore national influence over her local constituents that voted for her.

(senatornancytodd@gmail.com)[Rant1]It sounds like Nancy Todd gave you the old political double talk. I'm disappointed that you apparently fell for it. I contacted her via email, facebook, & twitter. She never bothered to either acknowledge or respond. Then, I saw where she voted "yes" on all the restrictive firearm legislation. My conclusion is that she is not "leaning towards gun control" but is solidly in bed with the gun control crowd; she cannot "still be swayed", but will do whatever her Democratic party leaders tell her to do, and, worst of all, does not feel it is necessary to answer to her constituents.

She will have to answer to them someday. I am guessing soon.

I agree. She was not leaning. She was all the way for it. I am not a happy camper when it comes to her.
ETA: And while you are disappointed with me, think on this I was not the only one who called her as a possible swing vote.
