Sorry guys but looks like Hickenlooper has made up his mind. http://m.9news.com/localnews/article?a=321188&f=1269
Shows us how important 2014 is going to be. We got to knock this clown and all the other out of office. I hope a good alternative to Howdy dudey can be found. The man has not done a Damm thing for business here in this state since he has taken office. He is a puppet for Obama and hopefully we can trounce the SOB and prove we are not a small minority.
Could someone post the text for the article? Thanks my friends keep up the good fight.
DENVER-In an exclusive interview with 9NEWS Monday, Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper said that he is not concerned over claims that his support of several gun control bills will put his re-election hopes in jeopardy.
"No I don't think so. I really don't think so," Hickenlooper said. "I have talked to many, literally like over a hundred people. Almost everyone says, 'yeah, as long as there's no centralized database. As long as you're not taking weapons away from us, but you're just making sure that when we sell a weapon it doesn't go to someone with a violent criminal history or severe mental illness, yeah that makes sense.'"
A constant drone of honking car horns could be heard from inside the governor's office, part of a demonstration against the gun control measures. A hired airplane flew over the Capital for hours towing a banner that read, "HICK: DO NOT TAKE OUR GUNS."
"There's a plane flying around that's saying, 'Hick, don't take our guns.' Well, here's the answer: we're not taking any guns," said the governor.
While nobody would have to give up a gun they currently own under the proposals, the protestors still see them as overly restrictive of the second amendment.
For all of their fervor, Hickenlooper sees the demonstrators a small minority.
"Not only do they not represent the middle, I don't think they represent the Republican party. I don't think they represent a large number of people," Gov. Hickenlooper said.
When asked, the governor did not name any proposal in a Democratic package of gun bills that he opposes, but pointed out that several of the bills have been modified to address concerns from critics.
Earlier this year, the governor said he'd sign a limit on magazines, then signaled that his decision on HB 1224 wasn't final.
In our interview, Hickenlooper indicated he still plans to sign the measure into law.
"Once you say you're going to sign something, you're going to sign something," Hickenlooper said. "I've never wavered. I said we're always re-thinking it."
The governor says he took some pause when Colorado company Magpul said it would leave the state if the bill becomes law, despite an exception for manufacturers.
Ultimately, the decision will be up to the company, but Hickenlooper says he's trying to win Magpul more government business through his Washington connections.
The governor opted not to weigh in on Senate President John Morse's gun liability bill.
"It's so hypothetical that it doesn't do me well until we see what it actually looks like," Hickenlooper said.
Watch the entire interview here. (http://www.9news.com/video/2203300062001/1/RAW-VIDEO-Entire-Hickenlooper-interview) After a lengthy discussion on guns, the governor also answers questions about marijuana, the death penalty, and fracking.
I can't wait to vote him and all these other douchbaag libs right the fuck out of office in 2014 I will single issue vote and I honestly dont care what turds the gop wrangells up they have my support

While I might not always agree with everything that comes out of the Republican party ...the next few elections I am going to make damn sure I do my part to ensure they get elected.
The Republican party has an "I win" button they had best campaign on that and shut their holes on everything else.
I honestly believe The Peoples votes don't really mean shit anymore. Call me a nutcase or a conspiracy theorist, but I think it's all controlled by the puppetmasters behind the curtains. They put whoever in office that it takes, Dem or Rep, to get the sheep going the direction they want them to. And whoever's in office damn well better dance when Massa say so. We don't have "leaders", we have "controllers", who are themselves controlled. From Obama on down, they don't work for us, but it's their asses if they don't keep us thinking that they do.
I don't know who's really behind it all, but Soros is obviously part of it. And that whole "Bilderburg" group and their secret "conferences" are very disturbing. The whole New World Order thing, someone obviously wants to turn everyone on the planet into just "Earthlings", or whatever, and not have individual countries anymore.
JMHO, but I'm nuts anyway I reckon.
You're probably right. But I'm fighting anyway.

Hmmmm...let's see. How many republicans have voted for any of the current crop of anti-gun bills? Some of you guys really need to wake up and start thinking for yourselves if you think there's no difference between the democrat and republican party.

I was not shocked at all for what Chickenlooper said in that interview.
WHAT I did get out of what he said, he was playing to the media masses that the; Pro A2 crowd is a minority, eccentric, backwoods, unprofessional extremeist group with idle threats.
THIS is how they are going to win, this has been mentioned before, there is a war on ideology, Conservatives are being attacked left and right as being OLD, extrememists, and has beens. Tryingto get the moderate conservatives to rewrite there views and be more like the liberals. The hard core Conservatives are being segragated, ostracized.
The Socialists are playing mind games, trying to get those on the fence to view us as the bad guys and the ones responsible for all the BAD things going on. The more we get seperated from the mainstream the more they can classify us as other things. wink wink

The funny thing is the ones that insist the above is 100% true are the ones being led around by the nose. It's jut by dilholes like Alex Jones and Jesse Ventura.

They vote how they're TOLD to vote, and that doesn't mean how WE'RE telling them to vote. If some Dems vote the same as the Reps, it's to look good, the Dems still have the majority vote and win because Massa wants it that way.
If these bills are so damn important to "the safety of the people", then why the Hell aren't they up for The People to vote on ourselves? Why don't WE get any say in the matter, other than begging our "representatives" to NOT vote for this shit, which they're going to do anyway because that's what their controllers told them to do. These laws are about controlling us, they're not going to let us vote on them.

Pretty simple answer. That's how our system of government works. We don't live in a democracy.
Hickenlooper isn't in fear of re-election because he isn't going to run, he has bigger fish to fry. Some other (D) will be running.

Here is my issue, who is going to run against him? Who does the GOP have that will be able to wrest power from dickinpooper? We keep talking about how we need to depose these asshats in the next election, but are we giving low information voters the shiny distracting light they need to move on?

He is the only member I have ever blocked. I come to this site for support and entertainment, not to get more stressed.
Ill run against him if i have to! Cant be too hard if that asswipe can do it.
I didn't vote for him, because I understand how valuable voting party is in our democratic republic. But, before this issue, hick was one of my favorite democrats because he seemed to base his beliefs on reason. So I see how some conservatives voted for him. Now I hope that some middle of the road republicans will see that they need to support their party regardless of the social issues that turn them off.
The arrogance of that prick hickenlooper is amazing. He is too stupid to realize he is nothing more than a puppet to the DC dems. If they really wanted him he would be in DC by now.

Its really like Mike Rosen says "party trumps politics". More and more, the term "moderate democrat" is becoming an oxymoron. These days, you can count on almost all dems voting the party line and ideology, all the time. In a way, this is good as you will be able to see where a state and the nation are headed just by looking at the makeup of the legislature; no surprises. Of course, if these bills become law and the legislature makeup isn't changed in 2014, you can probably take it to the bank that Colorado will start behaving like Kalifornia, NY, and NJ for the forseeable future.
After being born in Chicago, growing up in NY state, getting married and kids born in Kalifornia, living in Austin, and now living in Boulder County, I've had more than my fill of libs. The next place I move is (at least when I move there) going to have some conservative roots and respect for the Constitution.
My cat scratches kitty litter over objects which are more fit to run this state than that O-Hole-controlled sycophant.

I don't think the people's votes mean anything anymore, but I don't really think it's a conspiracy. I refuse to believe that a person or a group of people would be so much more intelligent that they could conceive and realize such a massive undertaking (all in complete secrecy, for some unknown purpose). I believe there are people out there with the power to influence events, but their choices are all 50% luck, just like everyone else. They're just luckier than most. Bronco Bama makes mistakes almost daily, and he just lies and talks his way out of it.
I believe that all the problems we face today are not the result of some puppetmaster, but rather human nature. Or the nature of civilization, or society. It's on autopilot. There's no fixing it, no changing it, no going backwards. You stick your head up, it gets cut off. You yourself dared me to stand up for my rights against a police officer the other day. Why? You desired to see me punished for standing up for my rights. You said it would be entertaining for you and everyone else here. We live in a sick society, and we're all contribute to it in one form or another.
A person can be smart, people are stupid. And when you do stupid thing after stupid thing, for hundreds of years, it catches up to you. It compounds and grows exponentially, and we're witnessing it right now.
I just don't believe in fighting the system at this point. The system is not evil, per say. Democrats are not evil, or stupid, they're just a product of the system.
I'm just going to live my life, in the manner I see fit, and I'm going to leave a ton of guns and ammo to my kids. We're never going to be able to fight the system, but when the system breaks down, we're going to need to be able to fight.

It saddens me to agree with this. The truth is, many, especially in the population centers that control the vote "NEED" someone to feed them, shelter them, and tell them what to do. If given freedom, they will behave badly.

Hickenpooper is not worried about being re-elected, he is wanting to pull a Salazar and get on a Presidential committee or some other BS post on his way to "bigger and better things".
He is not worried about anything in Colorado except proving his loyalty to the regime.

The sad reality is that the democrats won the 2012 elections in Colorado. The Democratic agenda IS being represented by the elected officials. Their constituents DO want gun control and unfortunately their representatives are serving it up. I don't think there's a conspiracy, they are simply acting on their philosophy.

Okay, I haven't seen anybody suggest this (but, admittedly, haven't looked through each and every post):
Eight words:
RECALL ELECTION FOR ANYONE WHO SIGNED THE BILL
What, in my mind, should be done is to initiate a recall election for each and every . . .<expletive deleted>. . .who signed the bill.
From what I understand, we'd need signatures totaling 25% of the number of votes cast in their most recent election to get this initiated.
Yes, it means work. . .a lot of it. But there are ways to do this.
First, I'd recommend making a sale to the national gun-rights organizations. Explain to them how supporting this cause will have a snowball effect nationwide. If we show here, in Colorado, that an elected official who votes anti-gun will have to face a serious threat of being recalled or elected out of office, then politicians on all levels will notice.
Imagine, for an instant, if the NRA donated 3 pages in their precious magazine asking gun-owners nationwide to donate to get Colorado anti-gun politicians kicked out of office.
Imagine the fear it would strike into the hearts of anti-gun politicians everywhere to see their state-level brethren pried out of the body politic like infested ticks with massive amounts of money thrown at a recall election campaign.
It can be done.
Every state rep and even Hickenlooper can be forced to deal with a recall.
At the very least we'll start draining their funds for their next elections.
We cannot let this stand. . .it's as simple as that.

Three words: Colorado Ballot Initiative
Initiatives (also referred to simply as Amendments) are amendments to the state statutes or to the state constitution proposed via petition by citizens, and must be signed by a number of registered voters equal to at least 5% of the total number of votes cast for all candidates for the office of secretary of state at the previous general election. Upon acceptance, the initiative is voted upon during the next statewide general election.[1] Amendments are designated by number. The number assigned to a measure when petitions are circulating is generally different from the number ultimately assigned to an initiative when it is placed upon the ballot.
There is no difference in Colorado, as of July 16, 2008, between the requirements for placing a statutory change, and a state constitutional change on the ballot, or approving such a change. Colorado Referendum O facing voters in November 2008 would change these requirements by requiring more support at the petition stage to amend the state constitution than to amend a state statute.
According to the Secretary of State's website, a total of 1,722,096 votes were cast for Secretary of State in 2010. To get an initiative on the ballot to repeal each of these bills if they were to become law, would require at least 5% of the total SoS vote, which is 86,105 signatures. If the pot heads could do it...
I'm unemployed right now but I could stand in front of a Home Depot and collect signatures.
Here's the letter I just wrote to Hick:
Governor Hickenlooper,
Thank you.
Originally, this message was intended to be a persuasive explanation of why HB13-1224 and its related gun control laws are bad ideas. However, it has become clear that your mind, and those of your compatriots, have already been made up. So instead of trying to convince you not to sign a bad law, I write to express my appreciation.
You see, when you were elected, you had my full support. Both during the campaign season, and subsequently, I have not just defended you, but promoted you to my conservative friends and family. “He’s a Democrat,” they said. “But look at his record - his business record - his political record,” I replied. “Hickenlooper is a smart businessman who will make good decisions for Colorado. If he had an R next to his name, you’d love him. But just because he has a D doesn’t mean he’s not the right guy.”
I even defended you to a state senator last summer, when I cornered him over the civil union debacle. I thought the Republican handling of that law last year was a travesty, and I told him so. I told him I thought you were the right guy to lead Colorado. “Send me fifty Hickenloopers,” I told him, “and put one in every state. Better yet, send a hundred Hickenloopers to the US Senate, and we’ll get good lawmaking that will help this country.”
As it turns out, I couldn’t have been more wrong.
By now, you have heard all the reasons why these proposals are bad. Should I rehash that the 1994 AWB had no impact on crime? Need I ask you how a pistol grip or adjustable stock affect the lethality of a firearm? Should I note that both the Columbine and Virginia Tech shootings took place under magazine capacity limiting legislation? Would you care for me to mention that for the entire history of the USA, civilians have had the same firearms at home as the military took to war? Would you recognize that while magazine capacity, firearm, caliber, and many other gun-related distinctions separate the different mass shootings we’ve suffered over the years, the common thread running through all but one is that they occurred in “gun-free zones”? Does it matter to you that the proposed magazine capacity legislation is so poorly written that it actually bans the most common sporting shotguns in America? Dare I question the fallacy of limiting magazine capacity so that a brave soul should stand close enough to a shooter to tackle him during a reload, yet should wait for that reload before moving in?
Is there any consideration being given to the obvious will of the people of the State of Colorado in this matter?
Apparently, the facts don’t matter to you or your fellow Democrats. Emotional testimony has been heard, but only given weight when supportive of these bills. A woman who had a gun but, in compliance with the law, left it in her car and was raped, is “on the wrong side of statistics,” while a woman who was defenseless by choice and shot by a lunatic is paraded around the country like some sort of circus act. Logic and reason have had no place in this debate.
Yet at the end of the day, in the House and the Senate, none of this surprises me. Dumb things happened last year when the Republicans were in charge, and dumb things are happening this year with the Democrats on top. I expected all this. However, what I did not expect was for you to fall in line so easily. I did not expect you to take the party line. I did not expect you to ignore the reason, and ignore the logic, and give in to the rhetoric.
So, thank you. Thank you for the reminder that when the chips are down, that D next to your name matters. Thank you for the impetus to get involved. I’ve never gotten into politics beyond a yard sign for one of my favorite high school teachers that was running for the school board, but that’s changed. You can count on my active involvement - not just financially, but in terms of my time and effort. Thank you for spurring me to action, and for the critical reminder that I cannot trust a politician to do what’s right - that they can only be counted on to march with their party.

Most the people that were voting Dem in 2012, were voting for women's health. If the Dems had come out on a stage or a commercial and say "And by the way we are coming after every firearm in the state and the country," they wouldn't have made it.
People got sucked in, they believed they were voting for "progress" and voting against an outdated way of looking at things...they failed to realize the unintended consequences of putting these people in power.
Most the people that were voting Dem in 2012, were voting for women's health.
The ironic thing is... those who were voted in because of "women's health" are the same ones turning around and saying "while we will give you the CHOICE of abortion... we are going to take away your CHOICE of protection on college campuses".
Rape on college campus? Oh don't worry about that... we'll give you the choice to abort it AFTER the rape! No need to worry about protecting yourself FROM the rape!

The left vs. right paradigm is simply a distraction from the overreaching power grab the government has been committed to regardless of party. The illusion of actual choice, both parties suck. That being said I'll be kicking democrats out with my vote next election.

Hopefully you sent this via snail mail. I have heard from someone that works at the capitol building that there are so many emails and voice mails coming in that they are being deleted enmasse.. Not that that wouldn't get your snail mail thrown directly into a bin. I would also send it out to various papers as part of their reader feedback/op-ed sections.
The capitol worker said that the best way to get attention is to just go into the capitol building and drop off your letter personally in their office. There is also a good chance that if your rep was not meeting with another person that you may even get a personal audience.
This person used to be a personal aide for a Senator and now just works in the building in a different position not directly related to a specific Rep.
I can't believe how many of you supported this guy. I knew he was a piece of shit when he emerged, a buddy of Ritter is no friend of mine. You guys got taken believing liberal lies.
im glad you at least now see the light, but it is costing us dearly.
Jim and Wreave, that letter is damn golden; it's about how I feel after supporting him for 3 years now.
It's my letter. Jim was just quoting it and thinks I'm a liberal.
But thank you!

Well, he's half right when it comes to me. I DON'T represent the Republican party since I'm an independent. However, I agree with Bailey Guns -- anyone who has said there's no difference between the Republican and Democrat parties only needs to look at these bills and who is voting for or against them. We got to this point because non-Democrats divided their votes which allowed people like Roy Romer and Federico Pena to get in office, making the state more attractive to liberals from Commiepornia, Taxachusetts, etc. and creating a self-feeding cycle.
I liked Tancredo in the House but his third-party run gave the Hickenlooper the election. It would have been a far different Senate if Bennet hadn't been given the election by the infighting between Buck and Norton -- with huge impacts for the country since Reid wouldn't have had the votes to beat a GOP filibuster.
You want to take the state back? Start by quitting the "turd vs. shit sandwich" malarkey and concentrate on candidates that will beat Hickenlooper, Morse, etc. regardless of whether you consider them "lesser of evils".

I call BS. They willingly believed in lies and non-sequiturs to rationalize their votes. The so-called "Story of Julia" and other "women's health" garbage spread by the Democrat Party and Obama were just so much sewage. In the first place, call it what it is -- a desire for widely available and preferably taxpayer-funded abortions -- because nothing else in the Dem platform had anything to do with women's health (and I would contend abortion itself is a non-sequitur to overall women's health). In the second place, there was nothing in the GOP plank about removing access to abortions; hell, Romney's biggest problem inside the GOP was that he came from Massachusetts and wasn't considered conservative enough.
Those of you who voted for REGRESSIVE and OUTDATED Stalinist government -- whether it was voting for Obama, Hickenlooper, or your local rep -- got exactly what you deserve. Unfortunately, your votes are dragging the rest of us along with you.

I can't wait to vote all the bums out. They keep saying they are not going to take our guns.!!??! Well at least not yet. They have to register them first and find out where they all are which is what they are doing now. The liberals (and I include anyone from any party who is in favor of violating our 2A rights) are following the blueprints of previous tyrants and are selling their hogwash to the sheeple of this state and country who refuse to think on their own.

No D received a vote much less a thought, outside of tar & feather.
Wreave, You and others who voted for H, well this last 2 months have shown how good a person you chose. Then again anyone who voted for Mr. middle of the Road fell hook , line & sinker for the complete pile of shit.

He will get re-elected, look at the CO majority. Pickle puffers, pot heads, and southern immigrant's make up the majority and none of them will vote R. All these shit bags will get re-elected because the victims feel safer now. All the sheriffs that opposed this will have to fight to keep their jobs. CO is headed down the toilet quick.

I didn't vote for him, though at the time and for most of the last year I thought he was the right guy. I voted Republican because I was afraid that if we didn't get 10% of the vote, we'd be relegated to minority party status due to how the state handles that. We almost did, as you'll recall, and barely beat the 10% threshold. I'd venture there are a lot more people here who voted for Tancredo.
You may also recall that Tancredo + Maes got less than Hickenlooper. But again, I didn't vote for him - though I thought he would be a better governor than Tancredo or Maes.
For the record, I have *never* voted for a Democrat at any level.

I think we would technically want to begin by petitioning a veto referendum, which requires the same number of signatures and would call a popular vote on each bill. They would have to be done individually, 86K signatures per bill, but there's no reason they can't be collected simultaneously. There's also no reason not to simultaneously collect signatures for a ballot initiative, or numerous initiatives as long as a separate signature were collected for each bill's referendum and each initiative. I'd wager that anyone willing to sign 7 petitions and a host of initiatives would also be willing to sign a few more times for a few recalls like CoGunNut suggested.
I don't know if it's allowed but if anyone else does: Could a single signature be used to petition for multiple referendums/initiatives/recalls (defined in the petition) -- in order to streamline the signing process, since our representatives were so kind as to assault us with high capacity legislation with one purpose and one purpose only, to trample the liberty of as many people as possible as fast as possible?
If the pot heads could do it...
wreave, that letter is pretty damn good. I didn't support him but it brings to light how those that did were let down. If you don't mind, i'm going to pass this along to some of my family members that supported him because i think it's a well written letter...hell i think everyone on this forum should copy and past it to his FB page just for shits and giggles.

I know more than a few on here who drank both the Hick & the Obama Kool-Aid. How a true supporter of the 2nd Amendment, could buy that crap is beyond me. All I can say is "...well, how do you like it now?" I am also certain that most of them will vote similarly the next cycle.

My brother has been a lifelong Democrat. He has never voted for a Republican. He has always supported 2A, but only became a gun owner in the last few years. He is PISSED. My letter is quite tame compared to his. He will not be voting D in the next election, period.
Hickenlooper isn't in fear of re-election because he isn't going to run, he has bigger fish to fry. Some other (D) will be running.
Trust me if he is running for the white house he will lose...but then again this low life would not when the party slot....
The more we get seperated from the mainstream the more they can classify us as other things. wink wink
I think you nailed it. Short term, we vote the dems out of office in 2014. Then what? Long term is much, much more difficult as we are against a shift in this country's worldview/ideology that's being indoctrinated in our universities, sponsored by the media and paid for by extreme leftists like Bloomberg. It's only a matter of time before other historically conservative states are diagnosed with the same cancer that has spread into CO.
