View Full Version : Is Anyone Familiar with this Neighborhood in North Westminister
The wife and I are house shopping. We were driving through the Amhurst / Quail Crossing neighborhood and really liked it. This is the neighborhood on the south side of 136th between Huron and Zuni. We like that the neighborhood seemed very well kept and there was an American Flag lit up in about every 10th yard. Seemed like my kind of place on the drive through. Anyone know anything about it.
Thanks
Good neighborhood.
Boarder of Broomfield.
I actually grew up in Quail Crossing and my parents still live in the house they had built in the mid-80's. In my mind there are four different areas and all but one are very good to live in. Coming in from 136th onto Kalamath St. is what I consider the odd houses. They were built more recently than the rest of Quail Crossing and really do not fit the area. They are larger, with split-rail fences between yards. The houses are very nice and I have never heard of problems there, but my concern is it is a handful of houses surrounded by the older, smaller, and in some cases run down houses. I suspect but don't know for sure that the house values are slightly depressed.
Next is the orignial Quail Crossing which I divide into two areas, the first couple of blocks were built in either the late 70's or early 80's and many of the homes are run down, though there isn't much crime. The middle of Quail Crossing where my parents live is in overall good shape. Best of all there is no HOA.
Amhurst is really another different area, again bigger and newer homes. I really liked some of the houses for sale I saw while we were searching for a new house, but my fiancée grew up in Arvada and really wanted to end up in West Arvada.
Sadly if you have kids the school district has gone quite a bit downhill since I graduated in 94. Adams 12 recently made the news for corruption at the very top and just doesn’t do all that well anymore. Still better than Denver but that isn’t saying much.
If you have any questions post them or PM, and if I don’t know I can ask my parents.
Good neighborhood. Boarder of Broomfield.
I still run into people who are shocked that it is Westminster. About a mile west and you are in Broomfield, about a mile east and you are in Thornton. Most people think it is either Broomfield, Thornton or Northglenn.

I'd search through zillow.com
I live in Thornton, just on the other side of I-25 from that area. It is a nice area. The Paul Derda Center has a really nice pool. It is pretty easy to get anywhere from I-25 and 136th. The best perk of all is you will be relatively close to BP Tactical who can take care of any gunsmith or machinists needs you might have. [Flower]

I live just a bit Northeast of there but head over that direction all the time. It is a nice area, as cstone said we go to Paul Derda all the time and it is a nice rec center. Plus just a few months till Cabelas opens up about 3 miles from there.
Once you get north of ~104th Westminster is pretty nice. Legacy ridge, ranch reserve, broadlands, quail crossing, etc are all quite nice.

I grew up there and never had any problems, we lived just across 136th from Legacy High and I went to Westlake MS and Legacy HS. I didn't have any problems with either school, and the Westminster and Broomfield police are really good about keeping a presence around so there was never any issues in my neighborhood.

Is that not communist held territory deep in the heart of retardville?

You'd be my neighbor too, well at least until 2014 elections, after which I may be moving... I live at 128th and Lowell, about a mile from there and practically across the st from Paul Derda rec center. James at triple8 tactical would be between us too.

This is part of what I am trying to figure out. I live in Downtown Denver Obamaville now. I am looking for an area of like minded conservative / libertarians I can build a community with. Someplace I can grow my prepper garden, raise a couple chickens, and BBQ with the neighbors that keep an eye on my house while I am out of town.

About the same distance from downtown just uses I-76 instead of I-25. I've got a rental property out there that I lived in for 6 years. One of the things made me happy is it is in Weld county instead of Adams. The first year I lived there come hunting season I'd say about 1 out of every 10 houses or so were obviously getting ready. A number of cars had Bandimere racing stickers on them.
While better then Denver county, Adams county is not friendly towards SBR's and other items that need a tax stamp. The Weld county sheirff is very friendly, I dropped the paperwork for my SBR the day after the Windsor tornado and expected quite a wait, but instead the following Monday the sheriff signed it.
you should have purchased my home....we moved yesterday from 136th and Sheridan. It was a bitch getting the safes out of the house, and would have left them for a like minded individual. a 24gun cannon upstairs in the master closet and a 55 gun browning in the basement....took 4 to get the small one down and 7 people to get the big one up.
other than the Bay Area moonbat that lived next door, it is a neighborhood of like minded peopel
Bigger bang for the buck in Brighton right now with all of the newer foreclosed homes. Wastminster is going into the crapper.

You may want to contact the Covert Mayor of Windsor (JIM) and see if they will accept you into their compound. Very nice and lots of like minded conservatives. If I was looking for a neighborhood right now, inside of Colorado, that is where I would be looking.

The wife and I have opted to suspend our house search for about 2 years. Good to know on that neighborhood though
So if everything goes right it looks like the wife and I will be moving into this neighborhood next month. Thanks for all the info everyone. We ended up in the Amhurst section.
I would like to move to little south of Orchard mall (144th between Zuni and Huron).
Nice houses there, but I cannot afford them. :D
