From Fox News:

North Korea amplified its threatening rhetoric as the U.N. Security Council approved new sweeping sanctions, vowing to launch a first-strike nuclear attack against the United States and threatening to engulf Washington in a "sea of fire."An unidentified spokesman for Pyongyang's Foreign Ministry said the North will exercise its right for "a preemptive nuclear attack to destroy the strongholds of the aggressors" because Washington is pushing to start a nuclear war against the North.

At a mass rally in Pyongyang on Thursday, Army Gen. Kang Pyo Yong told the crowd that North Korea is ready to fire long-range nuclear-armed missiles at Washington.

"Intercontinental ballistic missiles and various other missiles, which have already set their striking targets, are now armed with lighter, smaller and diversified nuclear warheads and are placed on a standby status," Kang said. "When we shell (the missiles), Washington, which is the stronghold of evils, .... will be engulfed in a sea of fire."

Now, I don't know about you guys, but I would see this as a clear and present threat to US soil, and in light of their threats to preemptively strike us, I would preempt their preemptiveness and strike first so that they could not... Granted, I would allow South Korea to use the new land for parking or whatever purposes they see fit. [Coffee] But my faith in our current administration to actually have any testicular fortitude is non-existent. I fear nothing will be done, even after a mushroom cloud resides over Los Angeles.

North Korea makes threats against U.S.

In other news, the sun rose this morning, will set this afternoon, and the Pacific Ocean is full of water. Yawn.

One missile in northern Colorado could decimate most of North Koreas infrastructure. I bet if LA was hit, the governor would not sign magazine limits bill...

Yep. And he said "they were nice people and they just want to talk, they just need to be understood..." He should've stayed over there.

On the one hand, if Obama's Korea can get a nuke that will actually work on top of a missile and reach kalifornia, is that really a bad thing, other than idiots fleeing the state and moving here?

Didn't we already send them Rodman?

Rodman said they don't want to fight though... I'm positive he is so messed in the head that he thinks the two Koreas are the same.

North Korea's chubby little leader wants the world to think he has balls. He gas been pumping the propaganda on his end lately. His video showing what appears to be New York in ruins and on fire and the other one talking about killing American soldiers. I know they have some weapons technology but nuke warhead technology? It seems as though he is trying to get someone to strike first

Don't worry. Our leaders will get to it after they address magazine limits and background checks....

Sorry, I should have added, I don't think they'll provide an appropriate and measured response even after LA is dust. I think they'll try and negotiate or not hit hard enough...

Intentions vs capabilities. Those dipsticks in NK may have the former, but are pretty lacking in the latter.

Though Japan or Hawaii might be in for a bad time of it.

North Korea shakes their fists and makes threats whenever the last aid shipment we gave them starts to run low. They've been using this method of extortion for a long time. It'd be interesting to see how things went if NK made these threats and the news simply refused to report it.

US citizens can be "droned" but this is OK. Relax fellas, why would a communist government attack another communist government? It's all theater anyway.

Blah blah blah... North Korea may rattle their sabre a bit more than some people would be comfortable with, but they're not religious zealots. I doubt they're naive enough to think that a preemptive missile strike on Washington would be anything less than complete obliteration for their country. I would start worrying when Iran makes comments that strong. Which they wont, because they're religious zealots and they know we'd take it seriously. Unlike this little jerkwater communist country who needs to remind the world that Gangnam Style isn't the only important thing about the Koreas.

Oooh how many times have they done this?

http://rt.com/news/north-korea-cuts-hotline-981/

Pyongyang announced Friday that it is nullifying non-aggression pacts with South Korea and cutting the hotline with its neighbor. It comes after the UN Security Council adopted a resolution expanding sanctions against North Korea.

North Korea "abrogates all agreements on non-aggression reached between the North and the South," the state-run Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea said in a statement.

"It notifies the South side that it will immediately cut off the North-South hotline," said the statement, which was carried by the official Korean Central News Agency.

If I was mini Jong bent on nuking the evil empire... er US. How much bang for the buck would they get sending a shitty little freighter to pop one off under the Golden Gate bridge? Launch all the rockets they want and while the world looks at those...

How would one know that LA has been nuked?

The early signs would be an increasing trend of thought-provoking, substantive, high-drama pieces in the cinemas nationwide. Ya know... the ones where boobs, explosions, quirky gay best friends, and talking animals aren't the integral structure of the plot?

I think I'd remind Kim Jong Un of a few facts:

We have nukes, too.
We can actually deliver our nukes.
We've had nukes since 1945
We're the only country that's ever used them
We used them on a little Asian country
Even in 1945 they were powerful enough to burn peoples shadows into concrete walls and sidewalks
The one's we have now will just burn the concrete, shadows and all
Your bunker won't protect you
