I'm in Ft Morgan Saturday, but I have been emailing him. He has responded directly to me, not a canned message sent out. He has not given any indication on how he will vote...

Same here. Manged to talk to him for a half hour on the phone last week, but he gave no real indication as to how he'd vote. I'm not terribly optimistic.

I just got off the phone with John. He is headed home to read up on the bills and all kinds of feedback on them for tomorrow's session, so email your input.

He's leaning on a yes vote for:

SB 195--Online CCW training
SB 197--No firearms for domestic violence offenders
HB 1228 Background fees (Poll Tax)
HB 1229 Universal Background Checks - he didn't understand the transfer portion of this bill, and was concerned that it discriminated against gay couples. I told him this amendment really needs to go. His answer to the sheriffs claiming it was unenforceable was that the police chiefs and CBI wanted it. Hell, I'd want it too if I ran CBI. In the business world, that's called empire building.

I'd say based on our short conversation he's leaning for this one, too:

HB 1224--Limiting the size of magazines - he keeps repeating the party line of how the Gifford shooter was tackled. I pointed out that six year olds can't tackle, and none of the grown men in VT tackled anyone.

Didn't get a chance to discuss this one:

SB 196--Assault Weapons Responsibility

May be influenceable on this one, as he's award of the Denver Post poll.

HB 1226 Prohibiting Concealed Carry on college campus.

ORLY? I was born on a Tuesday, but I wasn't born last Tuesday. I recognize Politicospeak when I hear it.

He dang sure didn't want to talk about Sen. Hudak when I mentioned CCW on campus. I wonder if they're going to throw her under the bus.

They'll suck her dick while celebrating the first step of burning the Constitution. The only ones being "Thrown under the Bus" Are We the People". I dare one of these fuks to go to any gun owners home and enforce their 'sensible gun laws" They will hide behind "Their Oath" and send unwilling LE's to do their dirty work. I wager the next big movement will be to Recall the 46 sheriffs who do not support their agenda. Starting with Sheriff Smith, hell they have enough flag burning low life's in ft fun NOW.

Were you expecting a different outcome vote wise from kefalas? The pressure from DC is something they cannot deal with, combined with his guaranteed loss of support, money and political wise from Pat Stryker.

Ask him to address Sen.'s Brophy and Lundberg points regarding the insidious consequences of the magazine bullshit making ALL guns illegal due to the fact that ALL mags (regardless of current capacity) have a removable base plate which makes them illegal under this shit law.

No, talking about the numbers of people here who oppose these bills.

Nice. Luckily the R open meet in loveland, was cancelled. What irritates me (to be polite) is how every D says they are voting based on their constituents input . To date Public Opinion (not the media's) has us Pro Gun Folk running 90% + Against any gun laws. Good luck, hope you get to speak and a BIG Thanks for having your kids with you. Our daughter learned very early the respect needed when it came to guns. Now she's received almost as many guns from me as her mother.

I don't believe Kefalas is a lost cause. I think he can be swayed but I don't think we have enough time.

They don't want anyone talking about the bills? I guess they don't want to deal with the gravity of their actions. Recall/vote out all of them.

Probably 90% of the time was spent talking gun issues, with the rest on fracking. Kefalas voted against the CCW ban but is still in favor of the others. He still wants to hear from us, although I think the chance is slight for as change "I've already committed" slipped out in conversation. Cogent, data-based arguments on the specifics of how these laws won't work have the best chance of persuasion.

The meeting structure itself was frustrating, as questions were requested to be written down and read (and only occassionally answered) by one of the three Democrats. I was expecting more of a back and forth discussion. I didn't get a cogent answer to any of the three questions of mine that were read:

HB 1224--Limiting the size of magazines
Requires that the preferred defense of the citizenry be to tackle a gunman while reloading.

How many six year olds does it take to tackle a gunman? In Sandy Ridge, no amount
How many high school students? At Columbine, no amount
How many college students? At Virginia Tech, no amount
How many church-goers? In Aurora, none. One sane person with a better sight picture ended that.
How many Senators? None, because they have extensive armed security. Fischer read it and had no response at all, even when I broke protocol, risking the harsh glances of the self-appointed hall monitor, to ask him directly.

I followed that up with "Why does your gun free zone at the Capitol have armed security but my kids' gun free zone has nothing?". A long spiel praising the efforts of the State Troopers who protect the 'People's House', including a incident where an armed man had to be killed by the SPs. For my kids, there are better ways than making an armed camp out of the schools. I'll be damn sure following up with this one, as the armed camp seems to work for the officials but other methods failed pretty badly at Sand Hook and Virginia Tech.
Fischer, who is a true douche, read "Why does my wife's educator background check last for five years but my gun purchase background check doesn't?" DB said "I don't know" and tossed it away.
My last question, which didn't get read due to lack of time, was simply "If these bills pass, how much civil disobedience do you expect?"

Thanks Jim. I want this sort of thing to be second nature for them. I was not taught about doing this in school or by my parents. I'll admit, the first trip to the Capitol was very uncomfortable. But it will get easier the more I do it. It's important that they know and understand this process.
