I sounds like the Aguilar ammo from a few years back. Alloy bullet. You want to see impressive. Look at the federal HST. Haven't heard anything bad yet.

Isn't Liberty the mfg that makes that Halo Point ammo. Sounds like the exact same round. Pretty sure someone had a thread about it, but it could have been on another forum.

Just from your description I'd guess that it doesn't have near enough penetration to be useful for SD.

Has anybody ever shot it into gelatin?

they made a "halo" round and as sroz said it might be a similar round

Per DocGKR it's a gimmick junk round. Stick with Gold Dots or Rangers.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9G0Je8z9J0 I would use them, (I don't think these are the Halo round but if they work like the Halo I wouldn't want to stand in front of the barrel.

50 grains? Good grief, no wonder the velocity is so high. I guess they sound good in theory. My gut reaction (after a 30 second digestion of the numbers) makes me think I'd consider them for my primary mag but keep a secondary mag loaded with traditional defense ammo. My thought is that most defensive shootings occur at pretty close range so 2" groups would likely not be a problem. If I'm forced to reload however, I'm guessing the distance will be such that I'll want the accuracy of a heavier round.

Of course that assumes a lot of things (range, accuracy under duress, etc) and like I said, it's a gut reaction based on 30 seconds of thought.

Tactical Defense Solutions has posted a YouTube review of this ammo, using ballistic gel comparing against HST. Pretty impressive results:

I'll take 147 grains of heavy happiness any day over 50 grains of speedy gimmick. I've made my peace with carrying 9mm as a defensive round, but it still skirts the border a bit in terms of raw slugger power. It doesn't need to get any lighter than it is already. For those ballistics, you may as well carry a Five-Seven... puts a lighter bullet to a bit better use, IMO.

Not every bad guy out there is going to be 110 lbs and wearing a thin t-shirt. Not often that I have occasion to say this, but I would like a bit more depth to my penetration. [Flower]
