About 45 minutes ago I step outside to warm up my truck before heading off to work and I see a Larimer county sheriff SUV in the street blocking my driveway. As I round the corner of my porch two deputies start yelling at me, "get back in your house, get back in your house". I look over and see my neighbor sitting in his car and he looks dead, blood visible on his head shoulders. I go back in the house and lock the door. Then deputies and flashing lights are every where in front of the house.
The deputies come and knock on the door and tell me that he got in a fight with his wife, took off in the car, the deputies tried to pull him over for aggressive driving, he led them back to the house, wouldn't exit the vehicle. When they approached him he shot himself in the head. I walked out my door about 10 seconds after he did this. He had a new wife, new baby and two kids 7 and 10 from a previous marriage. He was straight to the point, a veteran that served in Iraq, liked dogs and rode a motorcycle.
My residence (duplex) is now a crime scene and I can't leave until the investigation is complete, we are fully taped in and the street is blocked off as well.
I ask that prayers be offered up for his salvation and for the healing of his family for this all too common tragedy among our veterans. I hope they won't be angry with him for too long and will forgive him for leaving them too soon. God Speed.

Wow. I can't even begin to imagine what would lead a person to do something so horrible.
Prayers will be needed for his family for strength and peace. I can't imagine what his family is going through. His wife probably will be dealing with major guilt along with grief. So sorry.

that sucks, the kids will need lots of support
I pray for peace for his wife, children, friends, and loved ones. Their guilt and loss will be difficult and I pray that there are people in their lives who can stand with them and let them know that they are not alone and that there still is hope. I pray that we all find courage to face reality when it seems like there are no options and we make decisions that limit our future options rather than increase them. Despair is a terribly empty feeling. The thought that no matter what you do, nothing good can happen. I pray that we all are able to fight despair when it come for us.
Hug your kids, your dogs, cats, someone you love, or all of the above. Be safe.

i hope his kids didnt witness it. But, if its anything like my house they did. When I pull up to the house all the kids faces are plastered to the front window. That would be horrible for them(even more horrible than what happened alone).
That's absolutely horrible. I'm sorry for the family members affected by this tragedy, and sorry for the repercussions that will be felt through your neighborhood. :(

heart breaking.... my prayers out to his loved ones...
So sad, all the way around.
This happened at my cousin's house last year. Guy shot himself on the back of my cousin's car at about 2 am. The police were all wrapped up at about 7 am for him to leave. Just to give you a possible perspective on a time frame.

Praying for this man's salvation and for peace and strength for this man's family and friends. They'll all be hurting. My heart is especially saddened for the children as no child should ever have to experience loss in this way.
Praying for you and your family too wctriumph. May you have peace for what you've experienced and overwhelming compassion for his family. I pray The Lord guides your words and actions to help ease their grief.
Prayers will be needed for his family for strength and peace. I can't imagine what his family is going through. His wife probably will be dealing with major guilt along with grief. So sorry.
Because this all stemmed from an argument, his wife will surely have guilt over this for some time. Arguments happen in any relationship, but they should never be the cause of such despair that a life ends. For this man to take his life, I suspect he was dealing with more demons than just conflict in the marriage.
As always, amazingly well stated. Thank you for that!
Wow, this is terrible. Prayers sent to his family. Life is too precious.
A terrible tragedy. It is so sad when things get so bad that a person feels this is the only way out. I pray for the family and loved ones for this individual, it has to be devastating.

This happened at about 8:15 AM this morning and i was able to leave to come to work right after 11:30 AM. The deputy took statements from my wife and I and told us that a follow up investigator would contact us later today or tomorrow. I'm doing OK but my wife is still a little freaked out over it and can't settle down. When I leave work I'm going to buy a box of wine and make her drink a couple of glasses to calm down. Knowing her she will be too worried about the wife and kids to sleep tonight. She called some friends and they started a prayer chain going in their churches.
Thank you all for the prayers and kind wishes for the family, they are most appreciated.
how are you doing wc??? seeing stuff like that is pretty tramatic and usually creeps up on you days later

What a terrible event. As all the good men here wish: salvation for him and eternal healing for those in his life. And I thought my day was bad because my truck stopped charging..........no more words.

I am doing fine, the wife has calmed down, and when I came home from work there were many vehicles parked up and down the street, all friends and members of the family, including from the ex-wife's family. They have a lot of support and I ask that prayers continue for them.
Thank you all again for your prayers for this family.
