Incorrectly titled. Should read "Kelly buys an AR" I'm a brain addled old guy.

Can you spell hypocrisy?

http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2013/03/09/Gabby-Giffords-Husband-Buys-AR-15-Announces-He-s-Not-Keeping-It-After-News-Leaks-Out

Mark E. Kelly, gun-control proponent and husband to former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, recently purchased an AR-15 (an "assault weapon," he called it)—which he now says he intended as an illustration of the need for more stringent gun laws.

Kelly reportedly bought the AR-15 and a 1911-style semi-automatic pistol at Diamondback Police Supply in Tucson, Arizona.
Various sources contacted Breitbart News once Kelly made the purchase, and after we began investigating the details surrounding the purchase, Kelly announced on his Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=474203615968235&set=a.215073368547929.71130.163148530407080&type=1) that he was not going to keep the AR-15, which he has yet to pick up from the store.
Days after making the purchases, Kelly wrote on Facebook:
I just had a background check a few days ago when I went to my local gun store to buy a .45. As I was leaving, I noticed a used AR-15. Bought that too. Even to buy an assault weapon, the background check only takes a matter of minutes. I don't have possession of it yet but I'll be turning it over to the Tucson PD when I do.

In February, Kelly told Fox News Sunday's Chris Wallace that lawmakers need to address "assault weapons (http://www.foxnews.com/on-air/fox-news-sunday-chris-wallace/2013/02/03/capt-mark-kelly-wayne-lapierre-chances-compromise-gun-control-debate#p//v/2139988959001)." He said the purpose of an "assault weapon" is "to kill a lot of people very quickly," and he lamented that such products were "too readily available."
Kelly has not commented on whether he will also return the .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol he purchased.

Then mine are defective as they haven't killed anyone, much less a lot of people.

As for being available, he hasn't been shopping in the same stores I normally go to.

Kelly is entitled to his opinion. I choose to respectfully disagree with him. What happened to his wife was tragic. If he gets what he wants, does he really believe that no one else will ever be victimized by violent criminals?

I wonder why he is wasting his money. I will give him more for that AR than the Tuscon PD will. [Flower]

A fucking liar. He got caught buying these weapons, and is now backpedaling.

And there's your answer. He wanted to buy one before they were banned. Then, when news leaked that he purchased it, he decided to save face by saying he was going to turn it over. If he really wanted no one to know or to prove his point that they're too easy to get, he should have purchased it in a private party transaction where there are no records or simple background checks.

Then again, if he was just purchasing it to get it off the streets, they should raid his house because I'm sure he's got many kilos of drugs there too, that he's waiting to turn over to the police. [facepalm]

I don't think that has anything to do with the military. I thought that was a federal law.

What was he trying to prove???? He is the biggest ass I have ever been aware of. WHY? What is he trying to prove? To begin with he had NO right to testify in Colorado about OUR laws! His wife was assaulted in Arizona, what in God's name does that have to do with Colorado???? How does this reflect OUR laws!!! This Democrap movement is the biggest example of tyranny I have EVER witnessed. How can we stand here without wanting to(hypothetically of course) decapatate the head of the snake. NO one said anything(that I remember) about this out of state interloper and wife(I'm sorry she's had enough sympathy from Colorado) and the right she/he has to say one FUCKING word about our state laws! They might have had Bloomberg/Biden himself testify here. I have not ever witnessed a more unjust round of aloofness by those democraps than what took place Friday. I am so disgusted by the "process" that I almost want to move to Swaziland(which I don't think exists anymore)(i.e. just any off the grid country that does exist).

The military has additional rules, which vary between bases at the Commander's whim. When I was in, no-one under E5 was allowed to have a private firearm in on base housing, even a single-shot .22 rifle.

+1 This was my exact thought. I wonder if he just waits until the whole issue dies down and keeps it anyways. He's a hypocrite just like Feinstein who owns guns and yet is so against them. Can I also point out that the crime that was committed that turned Feinstein into an anti-gunner was committed with a REVOLVER, and would still be legal even if her ban went through.

AR-15s are a superb all-purpose rifle so I have no issue with him buying it unless he chose to go buy additional 30-round standard capacity magazines to go with it. On the other hand, this fib about buying it with an intent to turn it into the PD just to make a point about how easy it was for a Navy O-6 astronaut to pass a background check is laughably stupid and should be spread and questioned nationwide.

He may be a smart guy and all but he is a shitstick for climbing on the publicity bandwagon due to his wife being injured. Reminds me of Capn' Dan. Then again maybe he ain't so smart if he only made captain....He was trying to make a point like the rest of the fucksticks in Fast and Furious and we all know how that turned out. If he would have been buying a gun to prove a point about how easy it is to buy, the cameras would have been there when they bought it, not two days later when they got caught him. And you don't have to buy 30 round mags to prove you can buy a gun. He was going to keep it and got caught, what a POS. I hope they have inflated price there as well so the expense hit him hard in his wallet.

Yes, I hope he paid panic prices for that "used AR", and I want to see the cameras rolling when he turns it over to the Local PD. It would probably be a PR sham, in the front door with cameras rolling, out the back door into another one of his vehicles waiting there where there are no cameras rolling.

I want to see it destroyed in front of the cameras.

Consignment. People are realizing how ridiculously high ARs are selling for, but they don't want to do a private party transaction, because those are illegal with their lack of background checks!!!

So, they take them into their local gun shop and let them take a cut of the already extreme profit, and keep what they originally paid for the AR. Seems reasonable. [facepalm]
