View Full Version : Tons of Pmags on the market

The other night I was checking out Craigslist and there were a whole bunch of ads where people were selling their Pmags. It seems as though, now that Magpul's Boulder Airlift is in full swing, all those folks who overpaid for their magazines are trying to recuperate some of their money. I wonder how many $90 Pmags we'll see at next week's Tanner Gun Show?

It depends on Monday.

Yeah, if the bill goes through, those $55 PMAGs may not immediately sell but the closer we get to 7/1, the stronger the sellers market becomes.

anyone paying $55. for a pmag right now in CO. has no common sense, but down the road who knows......

You must not be following our own firearms & acc forum. Capitalism is great, however don't buy a product from me then try to sell it back 30 day s later, thinking i forgot how much you paid me.

Patience is the trick if you are trying to buy low and sell high. This goes for any commodity.

I don't know why everyone went crazy over PMAGs since USGI mags always worked well enough for me. I guess I'll figure out what the hype is all about, I just ordered a couple from their website.

I'm trying to maintain a 50:50 ratio of Pmags to USGI

But do you see any advantages? There are a lot of cheaper lightly used USGI mags on the secondary market that work very well, that's why I question why everyone went bat shit crazy over PMAGs.

I have had USGI mags that start to occasionally double feed if left loaded for extended periods. It seems to stress the lips. Not an issue with the Magpuls.

That is about all that I have noticed though.

Also, any time I feel like running over a mag with an F-350, I only use PMAGs, doesn't work so well with the USGI. Luckily, the number of times I have felt like doing that is zero to date.

Best USGI mag is HK SA80 and those are more expensive than pmags.

You sort of answered you own question on pmag. Pmag is valuable to me because more folks are going bat shit crazy over them rather than usgi mags. As mentioned above... it's a commodity now.

Agree on the HK mags being the best, picked up a few and paid the same price as regular GI mags since I bought them in batches

I guess, once I get mine, I can always use it as trade fodder.

many gun owners on other boards are already offering date stamped mags to us. They are salivating over pmags in general and the ratio o f usgi - pmags is vary favorable for us.

Don't get me wrong, I ordered some Boulder air lift mag. I prefer GI mags. I've only in the last year bought a few Pmags. I am probably a Magpul fanboy but I don't get the wild popularity of the Pmags. For poly mags I think the Lancer L5s are a little better. I'm loving this, as I've been getting the aluminum mags for almost nothing. I'm curious to see how a 40 year old plastic mag is going to look. My 40 year alloys could pass for half there age. This mag thing id gonna settle down, and used pmags will be 10 bucks.

I ordered some too. It is not every day when you get to order directly from the manufacturer. In this marker how can you turn down a $12 pmag.
On a different note, happy palindrome pi day 3/14/13

I think we all know that people are buying Airlift mags to be assholes and sell them for a premium to make money...somewhat defeating the purpose of the airlift....

Doubt I'm alone on this thought.

You're kidding right? I would never recommend using a product for a life and death role when the manufacturer suggests not to drop it in their literature...

Weak feed lips, the fact that they damage themselves due to the weight and steel quality if they are dropped, weak springs that fail to lock the bolt back after short term usage and lack of available repair/replacement parts all make the HK mag a no-go. Not to mention the 6 oz of extra weight per magazine you're carrying. We got a boat load of them with our 416s years ago. They were rapidly relegated to the "training use only" pile.

Magazines are not a durable item. Don't get attached to them. Run them until the start giving you problems (number your magazines so you can keep track..) and then either repair them or replace them. This is true for all AR magazines. The advantage magazines like the Tango Down or the Magpul magazines have over USGI mags is that you'll rarely see feed lips spread (causing double feeds). They're much more likely to noticeably crack as they fatigue instead. That's the time to toss them.

Magpul makes a good product. I've been using their stuff overseas for about five years now. There isn't anything wrong with aluminum GI mags with anti-tilt followers either. Get what you like and stack them deep....

Ran into a guy just last night telling me how he was going to make $500 off the Pmags he was getting from Magpul. I told him that wasn't what their intention was with this.

I used to like and respect this guy. Not as much now for sure.

Whether people buy from MAGPUL and sell them for a raised price, does it really matter? Not like it hasnt been going on now since the great panic. Not like you get TONS of PMAGS from MAGPUL Airlift program anyway.

You can ask many on here, I gave people $25 -$35 trade value on PMAGs towards crap I was selling over the last 3 months, built my collection up nicely. Got more than what I needed so sold some off. I got a person tell me; "Why would I buy yours for $25, when I can get them for $15 from MAGPUL?" Well don't buy mine then, someone else will. not like I am making any money off of them, selling for what got into them or taking a loss.

I ordered my 15 MAGPUL airlift mags, thinking, might as well right? More I thought about it, I felt bad for those that don't have many or cant get them for a good price. SO I cancelled my order from MAGPUL, to make sure that others can get their orders filled that came late to the game. I still have some excess, selling them to those I know need some at a price lower than I gave for trade. Doing my part to help a brother out.

I just picked up 20 Lancer mags, more money but they are suppose to work with 300 BLK really nice and want to make sure I can easily tell between my 5.56 and 300 BLK, different mags helps.

Same price, if i could find it,. My shop looks like another bomb hit it, again. Only you have to drive up here.
I believe in fair market value. HOWEVER magpul cut everyone in the country's order to allow CO residents the ability to buy before we cannot [Legally].
In this instance i take issue with anyone who blatantly tries to profit from the airlift campaign. Especially when they acknowledged they were on the order list.

I need nominee's, people who don't have more than lets say, a few PMAGS per AR they own.

If anyone knows someone who didn't get their maximum lot from the MAGPUL Boulder airlift program I need to know.

I cancelled my order via mail through MAGPUL middle of last week; however, I got a response Friday saying they are BACKORDERED on everything except non windowed GEN2 and said they went ahead and sent me (5) non windowed G2's anyway (in fact they arrived Friday late, before MAGPUL's charge on my account showed up. MAGPUL rocks!)

Cost me $75, which is what they will sell for. I am not just going to put these in the trading section. I want someone who DIDN'T get their order or allotment cause they signed up late or just have bad luck.

Someone who has 10 or more for each AR is disqualified, ONLY PEOPLE on this board. :(

Honesty is good karma.

I need people to nominate people on this board ONLY, people you know, or you can nominate yourself. Send me a PM with the user name and I will write the name on a list

I am going to gather nominees and then put their name in a hat and draw who gets them end of this coming week, Friday 22nd.

Yeah that was the thought, anyone unable to actually get the MAGPUL airlift mags. Not like this is that many, (5) mags is not a lot. I tried not to get any but it is a start to help others less fortunate.

At the Gun Show the cheapest PMAG I could find was $30 bucks. I offered $15 so they can still make a profit but I won't get hosed. Granted I only looked at 2 tables. I only wanted a PMAG because I don't have one yet. Other than that the GI mags work just fine.

I was at the Tanner Gun Show yesterday.
Yes their were tons of PMags. It seems they are still $30.00 & up. No price reduction from the last Three Shows.
There was a Vender from the Springs who lowered their P-Window mags. from $55.00 to $35.00.
That was the only vender that I noticed any change. I try & go to all the Denver shows.

Nope, I've seen this happen quite a bit. No different from fags sitting out front of Big 5 on Monday mornings to pick up a brick of 22 ammo for $20 and then resell it for $100 to the unlucky jerk in line behind him. Capitalism at its finest during times of crisis!

Sure, I could post on arms list 25 PMags - $2500

And some idiot will probably pay it....but why promote the panic.

May 30th would be the right time to sell, I don't even use my 30rd mags any more, it's like watching a dollar hit the ground everytime you pull the trigger.:) any mag over 10 rds between 94-2004 was over $100.
