As hard as this was to disassemble, it is proving even harder to reassemble. The problem is getting the barrel/slide assembly onto the frame. Specifically, getting the takedown latch to rotate and lock the barrel/slide to the frame. Please see the picture and you can see where I am. I may have the latch in the wrong position but I've tried every position I can think of.

I know the slide has to be retracted against the spring and the latch rotated throught the half-moon recess on the slide but right now it has beat me to a standstill.

Edit: There is a split ring in a recess on the takedown latch that is not fully recessed and that is preventing the latch from seating all the way through the frame. It may be a gunsmithing issue.

I finally got it. The split ring was the problem. I put the latch as far in as it would go and then I used the pointy end of a plastic disposable one-use dental flosser. A couple nudges of the ring and it popped in. After that the slide assembly was no problem.
