So, I've read a bunch, and watched a bunch of Video's on how to do this...

And I just cant seem to get it down...I feel like I'm gonna brake the damn thing before it gives...and have already somewhat elongated the hole on the bottom of my plate..

Any suggestions? advice?

For whatever reason it matters, Gen 4 G19 mags to be exact....

Screwdriver, punch, anything small enough to fit in the hole (lol), then flathead screwdriver to slide under the floor plate and slide it off.

are you squeezing the bottom of the mag just above the floor plate? I don't know if the gen 4's need that.

I'm trying to...plastic is pretty damn strong on these new mags.

Put your glock armorer's tool in the hole and just push the floor plate off. It feels weird, because it's a lot of pressure, but that's how they taught us.

Tried that....not exactly a Glock tool....but an equal size punch.

Thats what you need.

Putting a punch through that hole to open the spring plate is easy. Squeezing the sides of the mag body to depress the tabs is nearly impossible without a tool. I tried for a long time and finally gave up. Never bought the tool though.

If you look at the mag closely, at the base there are two tabs on either side just above the floorplate. They stick out into notches in the floorplate, locking the floorplate on. That red GTUL, slides onto the mag from the top, then you squeeze it which pushes those square tabs in teh tool into the two tabs on the mag, clearing them of the notches in the floorplate. Let me find a picture...

These are the tabs I was talking about. You need to squeeze the mag sides together to clear those lock tabs from the floor plate. I supposed you might be able to use a screwdriver slid parallel to the mag body and rotate it to create a wedge, but that might damage the mag.

Small C-Clamp does the same thing for 1/3 the price. Or be a real man and use a vise grips.
