View Full Version : Started my first day at the police academy!
Not going to say which one for privacy sake... But yeah, had my first day at the police academy. I was not sponsered so over the next few weeks/month I will be dropping applications all over the place like crazy! Anybody have any suggestions? I am willing to relocate! The program I am in seems to be extremely well structured, and I can not wait to dig into the material! I feel fortunate after meeting the fellow cadets that I seem to be 1 or 2 steps ahead of everybody else already in the knowledge I have brought in from previous experience in security work, and picking the brains of all my cop buddies over the past 5 or 6 years! I just gotta keep an open mind and use this time to soak up ALL the info I can! Hooray!!! [Tooth]
Congrats and keep your head on straight bro.. and I just had a conversation with an Aurora PD guy, he say's they're always looking.

Ill be sure to keep ya posted!
Like the instructor today said, "I know the academy frowns on off color jokes and comments, so if anything I say today offends you, get the **** out! Find a nice office job."
Nah, I am feeling really good about this, my head is up high, and allthough I am coming in with a ton of experience and knowledge, im playing it day by day, acting like I dont know a thing walking in there, but am more than willing to make sure nobody else falls behind if they do not grasp a subject 100%!
Relocate within the state, or out of state? TONS of opportunity in So-Cal, and i mean always hiring.
Good luck, and stick it out!
Cost of living is so high in So-Cal though.
[PoPo] Good luck at the academy!

Edgewater is always hiring, as is both the JeffcoSD and DenverSD. I know those options suck, but they're a 'foot in the door'.

Haha! Ill remember that if im in the area! Loveland was actually one of the departments I was looking into! And a pistol and rifle are weapons, not just guns. I have had to remind a few people of that already! With my military experience, and multiple years in alot of types of security( mostly apartments and bars, but also, grocery, retail, access control, racetracks, concerts, and other events) I have had ALOT of both officer contact, and side by side work with different agencies. Hopefully some of these bonds I have built with officers and deputies will help me find the right agency to work for!
Thanx for all the encouragement guys!
