Well with the impending restrictions I figure I better get some AK magazines even though I don't own one yet. I put off the purchase for to long and I'm willing to wait out the panic for the rifle but.

Don't know a thing about this. Is it safe to assume Tapco for AK is just as crummy as Tapco for AR? I see lots of metal ones from various regions, any to avoid?

Thinking I'd like to pick up 10 or so and I've got one chance to get it right.

From what I hear the Tapco's are pretty decent. For the price, I would get some.

Tapcos are probably the best American made poly ak mag, though they lack metal reinforcement in the feed lips and locking lugs. There are also the USA made metal mags I don't know about their reliability but they look a little lighter constructed than combloc steel mags. Combloc, Yugoslavian and chicom steel mags are all very durable almost all combloc and Yugoslavian mags have "high ridge" backs while most Chicom mags have a smooth magazine back, I feel both are equally strong. Basically all military steel mags will last a lifetime with very minimal maintenance. For me the lowest quality steel military mags would generally be either Egyptian or Romanian my favorites being East German, soviet, Hungarian and polish. My absolute favorite ak mags are soviet bakelites in the same category would be Bulgarian and Russian modern steel reinforced poly mags

I've been running Korean steel with no problems.

That's good to know hopefully the steel Korean mags are better than their drums, I know people that have had good luck with the drums but I have one I traded to beast that turned out to be a problem drum so I traded back

I've had issue with the Tapco Poly's not fitting well. Had to do some sanding on them but your mileage may vary. I stick with the steel from now on.
