Incredible! Brings back memories of being on my high school drum line though we were never near that good!

I played snare and quads in the drumline back in the day too. Good times. We never got to try anything that cool though. Those fellas are fantastic!

If you want to see this kind of thing live, Drum Corp International is a lot of fun. Our HS band used to go see it in Houston every summer. It is a lot of drum and bugle corps from different States competing in an all day event. It'll be in Denver on July 6th: website (http://ascendevents.bknights.org/AboutTheEvent.aspx)

Before I opened the thread, I fully expected a Neil Peart video.

This guy is my favorite drummer: Danny Carey of Tool

Hmmm, I was thinking Terry Bozzio! The guy plays different time signatures with each extremity!

That drumline was pretty damn cool, I always liked the sound of marching snares. The Faceless was one of my top albums last year, good stuff.

I don't know, Bozzio is a beast to be reckoned with. Ever seen that little black kid named Jonah? He has a YouTube channel called JonahRocks, he was a drumming monster at 5 y.o.

Carey is my favorite, but I've really been into Gavin Harrison lately. Watching his clinics is pretty mind-blowing.

Ya know; I would expect that from guys getting paid, but from kids?? That was impressive!!

Also one of the many fine musicians who were in Zappa's band.

I'm pretty partial to Tomas Haake from Meshiggah myself. That dude has insane double pedal skills. Those damn Norweigan cats sure know how to throw down some death metal [rockon]

Also, fawking cool thread!

As a bass player, I always appreciate a good drummer! I'll play in a crappy band, as long as it has a really good drummer! I appreciate good double-pedal technique as well. There's a local guy here in the Springs that plays a great double-bass pedal. We've played together off and on for the last 10 years or so... Let's not forget these:

Tito Puente (kind of the godfather)
Bill Bruford
Vinnie Colaiuta
Buddy Rich
Steve Smith
Steve Gadd
Jeff Porcaro
Dave Weckl
Mike Portnoy
Billy Cobham
Max Roach
Shiela E.

Amazing, I can hardly imagine how much practice that took.

I've always been a huge fan of Stewart Copeland (The Police) and in the last couple of years took a liking to Josh Freese, studio guy but has toured with many bands (A Perfect Circle, NIN, Devo, and many more).

I love music threads!! Since you have teh serious rockers up, here are a few drummers from a more lighthearted approach, HA! Enjoy.

And on a more serious note, every year there is some great talent at the Drum Off:

Not to deviate from the OP: those guys are insane! Tons of practice needed for that performance!!

+2 for the Vandals drummer. I've seen him play with a Perfect Circle live a few times. Great drummer.
