I found a FDE G17, and I have been eyeing either a G19 or g17 for some time now. Its at a good price and i'm thinking I should pick it up. Money is tight right now but i'm afraid that if i snooze ill lose. Especially with 1224 possibly coming down the drain. I need someone elses opinion on whether I should do it. I'm not going to be eating ramen for a month but I probably shouldnt be buying a new gun. Should I do it or not?
This is not a question as to whether I should buy a Glock vs SA vs Sig vs <insert brand here>, I also dont care that you hate FDE guns. :)

I've got two opinions here...
#1: if it's a choice between a G19 and a G17, I'd heartily recommend the 19. Much more versatile size-wise, and you can still use 17 mags if you care about the two extra rounds.
#2: if it's just a choice between getting it or not, then YES - BUY IT NOW. It will be off the books, will have evil-capacity mags, and will be an excellent investment. A little temporary debt is worth the secure, placid, smile-inducing feeling of knowing you have everything you want firearms-wise in the face of an impending restriction on those rights. (I know... *Grin*)

IF, you were to buy it, and have buyers remorse, liquidating a 9mm Glock in the for-sale section typically takes less than an hour if it's priced realistically.

That's what I'm doing... I own a G22 (15 round std cap, I should be okay, but it's a Gen3), but I do want a G17 Gen4 one day, then send it in to Salient Arms for some upgrades... I think now I'm just going to stock up on G17 mags... [Beer]

That is my dilema. We are in the process of building a new home so we have to keep the finances in check... but I REALLY want to upgrade the number of magazines I've got. I think we've only got six 19-round magazines... but two of them have been converted to CA compliant 10-rounders for when I fly out that way. So we really only have four 19-rounders. I gotta see if I can get my hands on at least 4 or 6 more.
Those suckers are so expensive!
I purchased a G17 for my son plus five mags. I also have his complete lower and 8 PMAGS and 4 GI Mags. He is underage so I am going to document his mags and have it notarized.
The only thing that is important right now is mags if we can't get this shit undone.
However, I agree that the G19 is more versatile. I am going to get me son a G19 and G26 over the next couple of years.
Disclaimer: I don't like Glocks but my son does.

I have G17 mags backordered from Brownells for 2 months. No ETA on delivery.

This is what I am eyeing. I'm looking to get some G19 mags and some 20 rd AR-10 mags. I don't own either and with money going to other than gun stuff at the moment I'll grab mags for when I can afford the guns in the future.

The reason I want a G17 is because of salient arms. I'm a big Sig guy but I have a G26 and ive never had issues with it. The 2 sigs ive had have both come with either promag, or checkmate mags and have both failed me.
I have a similar dilemma. I would like to buy a G19, but the funds are a little lacking right now. After this crap goes into affect, will you only be able to buy a G19 with 10 round mags? Since G19 mags are easily converted to hold more than 15 rounds, I imagine they would be banned. Thoughts?
Do I ignore my wife's wrath and go ahead and get the 19 now???

Short answer - YES. I don't know what Universal Background Checks are going to purport in their final glory, but it is far better to pick up your "evil guns" now, deal with the debt, deal with the discord, and have them for later on. PM me if you decide to buy it - I'll mail you a 15rd KCI mag for it for free. You'll just have to send a photo with you holding the G19, to prove you actually bought the lil devil. :-)

Buy mags Now the gun will be avaioable after the laws tacke effect. I "Think" with the UBC shit most former FTF sale prices will level off to LGS retail. Why pay more than retail for aused when you can buy new? MAGAZINES, MAGAZINES, MAGAZINES, MAGAZINES
FWIW: the KCI units make great range mags.

My 2 cents, buy the gun, But not because of impending regulations.
Granted I've only been shooting a short time, 2 years, but from the time I started I was anti Glock. Why, simply because so many people were so pro glock and it figured it wouldn't live up and was over hyped. I caved more because I wanted it a compliment to my Sub 2K.
Bought a 17 in December and LOVE it. It's fun to shoot, accurate and even though I was worried about the size, it fits comfortably in my hands. Throw a 33 round mag in it and its tons of fun.
I'm a devoted Glock guy, but not because of all the hype. Because they are PROVEN guns, with a 20+ year track record of being reliable, accurate, and durable to ridiculous lengths. They're the AK of the pistol world. I've owned 8 of them in my career as a gun owner, currently own two, and will never part with them again. May not be pretty, or have fancier HK features, but they will not let you down. When I'm not wearing my .357, I trust my life happily to my G19.

Like others have stated; 19 are more all around use but 17 are great too.
