View Full Version : Wes Welker to Denver Broncos!
Just announced from the Broncos, we signed WR Wes Welker to a 2-year deal! This could put Peyton over 5000 passing yards this year... My only problem is, Welker plays the same slot as Stokely, and I love Stokely.
But still, it's a good move for our Offensive game, and I'm excited for Football for the 13/14 Season!

maybe he could play in the secondary

No but Rodgers-Cromartie can. Denver has made some REAL good moves already. They've filled some holes and still have plenty of free-agency left. We haven't even had the draft yet! It's getting good when seasons vets are looking towards the Broncos first and some are willing to take less money to play here. Funny, people were tripping all over themselves to get out of town when Tebow was QB and now that Manning is QB it's the place to be yet people still think it was a bad move. Anyone who knows football can see it was probably the best move of the year last year.

Broncos approached welker and made him an offer. He went back to the Patriots and they said no, we have no intensions of resigning you. I am pumped we have welker. Growing up in Boston its great to see someone like him make his way out here. If we dont win the super bowl this year its never gonna happen..hah
meh, I'll get excited when they actually win the superbowl. all these "amazing" trades/drafts/moves have yet to do that one thing since Elway left.

Welker is a quality add, and a large upgrade over Stokes, even as good as he still is. Still curious what they will do about the run game, but I'm not crazy about signing an older back like Steven Jackson to be "the guy". Offense looks to be in fine shape, but many holes to fill on D. Worried about MLB and the DBs.

No, the Patriots offered him 10 million over 2 years.
Welker is a huge add. Now we need a corner and possibly a safety.

They've managed to make the Broncos enjoyable to watch which is the first time since Elway so that's enough for me. I know people get hung up on winning the Super Bowl and it's a wonderful goal. I'll take a decade of competitive enjoyable game-play, making the playoffs & showing well in said playoffs over a decade of shitty football that's painful to watch & root for with a single lucky SB win somewhere in the middle any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

I love signing Steven Jackson to a performance laden contract and feel like that's one of the most quality backs out there to be had. There's some potential young talent as well but it's more risky. With what Denver has currently he would be a nice compliment with his experience and overall ability. Hell, they're still in talks with Nmamdi Asomugha and as long as they don't offer him all the money that's another good signing.

You do know they signed Rodgers-Cromartie yesterday, right? That's a wonderful compliment to Champ assuming his last game wasn't a sign of things to come and all his age coming at once. If that was just a single bad game for Champ (likely) I like this duo and agree with the statement about safety. I hope Denver doesn't try to strike lightning in the same place by signing Ed Reed trying to repeat the Brian Dawkins signing. B.Dawk had a few good years left and if you were to ask me last year I wouldn't have thought that Reed would have even made it through that season.
