While you're at it, ask him to veto 1228, 1229, also. I called earlier today and it was super simple and took all of 5 minutes. Make some calls gentlemen and ladies!

And send him the results of the denverpost.com poll on HB1224 which, at this point, is showing overwhelming opposition to the bill.
I sent him this email, think he'll read it?
Dear Governor Hickenlooper,
I'd like to ask you to PLEASE veto ALL of these new gun bills! PLEASE!
These will do nothing to "keep people safe", and we all know this. These bills merely represent an agenda of the Democratic Party, and they appear to have their roots in Washington.
As an American, I've always been under impression that our elected Representatives and Senators at both State and Federal levels were supposed to act as representatives of US, THE PEOPLE. And that they were supposed to strive to do the things that WE, THE PEOPLE asked them to do for us. In other words, they're supposed to work FOR US, correct? Exactly when did that concept change to allow them to just decide for us what THEY think is best for us?
When were The People of Colorado asked about OUR opinions on these bills? Who asked us if we wanted them, or felt they were necessary? Was there a poll or vote on them that I missed?
And did anybody, ANYBODY, ask any of our elected officials to please create these bills? Were these requested by any citizen at all? If not, they need to be stopped immediately when they hit your desk. It's very clear that WE, The People Of Colorado, DO NOT want these bills enacted! If you don't believe me, then please ask us. Ask every voter in this state how they feel about it, and please act accordingly when they reach your desk.
The Denver Post has been running a public poll asking for opinions on repealing HB1224 if it were to be enacted, you should check out the results of that poll. The OVERWHELMING majority of votes so far are for YES, to repeal it. That means WE DON'T WANT IT! And the same goes for the other bills.
Please act on these bills according to the wants of The People that you represent, and that these bills will affect, NOT the wants of the Democratic Party or The White House. You work for The People of Colorado, not for the people in Washington. Please remember that, and veto these bills. Please.
And The Democratic Party should be ashamed of John Morse's recent statements. He needs a talking-to. As Senate President, he of all people should know that he and his associates work for The People of Colorado, not for the Democratic Party. They certainly haven't been acting like it lately.
Thank you!

But if you call, do you talk to Hizzoner himself? Or some lackey?
That's what I thought. Either way, there's someone there as a buffer between Hizzoner and the unwashed peons.

I think he took the phone off the hook. This weeks interview goes like this...
"yeah ya know we didn't get any opposition, no emails, phone calls or letters. Maybe the Colorado people are finally getting sme common sense" says hickenoooper.
A friend/acquaintance that works at the capitol says by far the best way to make any kind of impression on any rep is to just stop by their office. If the assembly is in session they will likely be there. The second best way is to call. Yes all calls and emails go through aides, some will get deleted some will get forwarded. Emails and letters will be scanned over to get what the gist of the message is and what the position is and will be added to a tally of for/against. Writing a 2 page diatribe is no more effective than a 3 sentence message stating the bill number and your position. Emails from people other than constituents will get deleted, they do not have to respond to anyone that is not a direct constituent of their district and they should only be listening to their direct constituents. No matter how much you want to tell them all to F Off.. threats and rants will only get you the "delete the psycho" selection and may even end up putting a check mark in the opposite box.

Done. Aide answered on the first ring. All you have to do is simply voice your opposition to House Bills 1224, 1228, and 1229 and ask that the Governor veto them.

Just home from work and made the call. 2nd time got thru to someone that "will pass it along".
According to the AP, he doesn't care about your calls: http://www.denverpost.com/politics/ci_22817850/ap-source-colo-governor-sign-gun-controls
I'm sure he's been promised a cushy job for his signature, and that's more important to him than the constitution.

Called and sent a mass text reminding my friends not to be complacent.
http://www.koaa.com/news/governor-hickenlooper-to-sign-gun-control-bills/
Governor Hickenlooper to sign gun control billsDENVER (AP) - Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper will sign gun control measures Wednesday that pose limits on ammunition magazines and expand background checks for firearms.
A state government employee with knowledge of the situation confirmed the details to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity because a formal announcement has not been made.
The signings would be a victory for Democrats in the debate over gun control in this politically moderate state where gun ownership has been a treasured right.
The proposals were Democratic centerpieces in the party's package of gun legislation aimed at addressing mass shootings at a suburban Denver movie theater and Connecticut elementary school last year. The bills would become effective July 1.
Republicans reviled both bills and argued the proposals would not prevent more shootings, but hurt law-abiding citizens' exercise of their Second Amendment rights
