I'm a newbie currently piecing together my first build which is a mega maten and I'm stuck at the barrel decision. I wanted a 20"-22" match barrel in 1-10TR, but don't really want to wait on one to be made so I'm looking for one in stock and came across Fulton Armory. Use of the rifle could be elk, antelope, and range time. I have a JP low recoil BCG and Spring going into the build.

I have a JP low recoil BCG and Spring going in into the build.

These are in stock and the reviews seem okay out to 800-1000yds max depending on wind for target shooting. Does anyone have any experience with this barrel?

They also have this one, but it's 1-12 twist and was unsure about elk loads through it.

Will this brake match up okay with the 18.5 barrel?

What gas system should I go with? Low profile? Brand?

Hand guard suggestions?

Thanks for any help in advance.

Ended up putting it together with the 18.5" fulton.

Would definitely recommend this combo. Very balanced.

Nice setup. I've ordered a few things from Fulton Armory and have been pleased with the results. Criterion barrels are good quality at reasonable prices.

JP BCG is also a good choice and the results on paper prove the point.

How's the blast and noise from the JP Cooley comp? I've used a Miculek that has a similar design. Great for recoil reduction, but it will blow the hat off of anyone standing next to you.

You might also check Rainier Arms http://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=2239 their ultramatch barrels have a great reputation and I used a DPMS pattern one for my MA-TEN build I just completed. I have not fired it yet but the fit and finish is great.

I haven't had it installed yet. Shooting without the jp comp the recoil isn't bad at all.

I ended up with the fulton since rainier was out of stock at the time. Both seemed like great options.

I second the Ultra Match from Rainier. I have one in 5.56 and its will do 6 rounds at 650yds inside 3" with match ammo and me doing my part. I would do a 16 or 18" for your build to keep the weight down. Past that you could always have someone turn one from a quility blank (obermeyer or Pac Nor super match)
