Unfortunately you are right. Easily one of the biggest names in firearms, and it won't mean shit.

Colt hasn't even been winning the government bids, anyways.

As in if they could say "look we supply **% of our service men's weapons, blah blah". Nevermind.

I can see that train of thought. My thought on it is we've seen all these firearm/accessory manufacturers step up in opposition, but when it comes to the "big names" we hear crickets, well finally one of the biggest steps up.

One the issues is you have to look at the history. I understand that for you Colt has a minor impact since you are 32. But for many and this applies to the old guys making the laws Colt has name recognition. Just a thought......

Au Contraire, perhaps the first gun I ever held was an 1*0+ year old Peacemaker that my dad bought when I was ~7. It's not all KRISS and Glock to me, but your statement in itself shows the point that "You may not be into the history of firearms, but Colt...". I'd counter-bet that many of the lawmakers would be more familiar with Glock (notoriously for the prevalence in violent Rap music which took center stage during the 90's, and that idiot who shot Giffords + 19 others) and Remington (big Hunting where arguably much of the Lobbying money has come from, until now with players like Magpul coming onto the scene) and just not give enough credit to Colt where it's clearly due.
I understood what KestrelBike was getting at. Hopefully per jerrymrc though Colt will not only have a significant impact with their local legislators but also now influence other major manufacturers to step up. The big players are probably lobbying quietly with money but they need to step up more publicly at this point.

Agreed. What I'd *Really* like to see is Remington start swinging their buttstock around. That'd basically represent everyone from historians, to hunters, the military, and even the "tactical" crowd.

oh...you mean like magpul?

haha exactly. I'm in the camp which believes that there's a definite agenda in this that they will not steer away from because they fear their handlers more than they fear their constituents.
More manufacturers need to step up and publicly say "this is how many people you will put out of work!!!"

Democraps don't care one iota about history, i.e. second amendment, much less a historical manufacturer of guns. Just like Magpul, "who cares.... Good Bye!!!" These asshats don't care one bit about the ramifications of their agenda. As long as just one life is saved, it's all worth it. Worthless fools. The children, ahhh the children. With their thinking, we are letting children run our laws, Remember how one dem said he can't let his child feel scared when going to school, so we must ban guns? The children run these laws! It's going to get us all in a civil war. For the children, for the children....

Yep it all about the children with Democrats, unless it is abortion, then it is okay to kill 1.5 million babies a year.

Colt is still alive and well in the gov't supply business. Maybe not with complete M4 or M4A1 rifles but with plenty of other stuff. They just got awarded the contract last summer for the MARSOC pistol worth up to 22.5 million.
