Go and vote.

Deny them yet another data point that would let them claim that we're in the minority.

Somebody just ran a script to boost the "Against" numbers. I saw nearly 700 hits (progressively... about 40-50 per minute) until they reached 3,000 hits and then it stopped! It took about 20-25 minutes and then the hits went back to just 2 or 3 a minute.

BROBAR, how are you able to see that happening?

I just keep refreshing the results page and you can see them shooting up at a pace of 2-3 votes per second. In less than 10 minutes we went from 80% down to now in the 77-78% range.

I'm watching it to see if they stop the script at around the next thousand mark (4,000). That is what they did when they ran it earlier... they stopped it at around the 3,000 mark.

brobar
03-15-2013, 12:30

it take my pc at work here about 15 seconds to refresh/reload. I thought that might be how you were doing it. It just feels to slow to observe that. But if you got enough patience. I don't :-)

brobar
03-15-2013, 12:44
I figured out the pace by checking it out every few minutes and then dividing by however many seconds it was since the last time I refreshed.

nynco
03-15-2013, 12:47
"IF" you are voting multiple times please use a VPN to change your IP address. Otherwise they will call this a rigged poll because one guy from one IP address voted 3K times,I can picture them saying that to discredit gun owners. Just don't give them the ammo to shoot back at us.

robertcolorado2009
03-15-2013, 12:51
I have been monitoring it also and the against are about 3-1 to the fors continuously. I refreshed it 8 times and it was consistently more against than for, and the undecided moved 1 vote that entire time. Something is fishy here.

aryntha
03-15-2013, 12:53
I saw this happen too. We were at 81%, and then i just saw it wind down, in a matter of minutes, down to 75%. It's still sinking *by the second*. 300 "against overturn" votes in 30 seconds. The script for them to do this would be very easy to do. I would like to think we could stay on top without resorting to dirty tricks, though.... (As I typed this last line, 'against overturn' gained 47 votes.)

One thing to understand here. If this kind of business is going on, then we can bet that thousands of emails went to Hick in the same way.

I will say the progressive readers are DPO come out in spurts. Want to make your eyes bleed read the comments on some of the articles. It will go for pages with common sense people in the am and then come afternoon the progressives come out the comments turn against, almost like clockwork.

If that's true, 100+ of them are coming out a minute. Take a look for yourself. This began in earnest about an hour ago; we were in the 80-81% range since late last night. Still sinking by the second.

And the opposition to the initiative is still massively outnumbered.

03-15-2013, 13:14
Yeah... I think it is pretty clear. It went on for about 20 minutes and when I tried to counter it... it stopped for about an hour. But they started it back up and are going even faster now. I can't counter it on my own. And like NYNCO said... since I'm not behind a firewall... they will probably be giving me a call a bit later. hehe So I'm gonna stop trying to counter it and just let it go. I can't keep up with 'em by myself!

Yeah, the pro-1224 votes are coming in now at just a bit over exactly 1 per second, at a constant pace, no interruption. Running some math, if this doesn't stop, the poll will be at 50/50 in about 4 hours. By the end of the workday the entire picture will be reversed, most likely.

And, of course, it'll be waved around as a victory.

Yep. Wouldn't surprise me if they let it run until it flip-flops to 80 in their favor, 20 in our favor and then have a firestorm of emails to Hick saying "see... the people are in favor of this" RIGHT BEFORE he signs it! Sneaky little bastards!!!

nynco
03-15-2013, 13:28
No on this one ridge, its very easy for a firm that is hired to hit their servers with a script to flip the count. The fact that this poll is staying up for this long indicates that someone is trying to change the results and the poll will stay until they get what they want. All the other denver post polls last 1 day.

brobar
03-15-2013, 13:31
I don't know about that nynco... the concealed carry on college campus poll has been up for a week (heavily in our favor). Doesn't mean they won't hit that one next after they are done with this one... but you can still vote on it at the moment.

nynco
03-15-2013, 13:32
I could be wrong, I don't pay attention to the polls all the time. I only go to them when you all call for us to do our part.

Ridge
03-15-2013, 13:32
Denver Post polls can stick around for days. They usually cover hot topics or sporting events. Since there is only March Madness going on now, that leaves the hot topics. And since this whole thing is going on at this very moment, it makes sense that it has lasted. Especially since the thing only went up ~15 hours ago. Less than a day.

brobar
03-15-2013, 13:37
If you go to the following page: http://www.denverpost.com/opinionpolls?source=Subnav_Op_Polls

You'll see 8 polls. They keep 8 polls on there at any time. When a new poll gets put on the front page... the 8th (and oldest) poll drops off. You can vote on any of the 8 polls until that last one drops off (meaning a new one has been added). The way they prevent multiple votes from a single person is through cookies. The easiest way to circumvent that is through Safari... (BEFORE you load the page in safari... go into the settings and change it to where it denies all cookies... then turn on "private browsing"... then you can vote as many times as you want. If you want to take it to the next level... have several tabs... tabbing through each once to click the radio button... tabbing through each again to submit... rinse and repeat).

So they either have a script that is doing this for them dynamically... or they've got a dozen or so people just doing it non stop. My guess is a script because they sure haven't tired in these past couple of hours.

aryntha
03-15-2013, 13:40
The sustained pace that the votes are coming in makes it pretty clear what's going on. Check it at 1 minute periods. The gains in the 'pro-1224' votes will be almost identical every minute. The (lower) gains in the anti-1224 votes are varied and sporadic. -- trust me, i'm a big skeptic on "tinfoil hat" stuff. This poll has shifted 10% in the last hour, and the pace isn't varying. There's no "conspiracy", but there might be, as I said, some hipster kid in an IT department who thinks he's saving the world.

You can do the same thing in Chrome by going into your cookie settings and selecting "Block sites from setting any data" and then bringing up a "New Incognito Window".

Yeah... at the pace they are going... we would need at least half a dozen guys going non-stop... maybe even a dozen to counter it.

You have a poll on there that has been open for a week... and it has half the votes of a poll that has only been open for a day? I don't think you need a tin foil hat to see what is going on there.

Oh well... you either fight fire with fire. Or you let it run its course. IF you fight fire with fire... you run the risk of them saying "see... it is rigged".

EDIT: I did not mean to quote myself. hehe

While I don't think poll numbers would sway him either way... don't think for a second he wouldn't use those numbers to help justify his vote if the numbers were in his favor! If the dems can use an almost 2 decade old poll in their argument in favor of universal background checks simply because the results were in their favor... I'm sure they would continue to play that game!

Agree. It depends on how they have the polls setup. For a simple, quick, easy to design poll... they could be using the cookies as the "fail safe" and just incrementing the number in a database based on a vote. If they want to throw in security so they can do reporting (break down a poll based on demographic, location, etc...) then they would be logging multiple things to a database that goes along with each vote... and that would be IP, type of browser, type of OS, time, etc...

My guess is that they are probably doing the latter if their programmers are worth their salt... but if they are lazy then it very well could be the former. Access logs will still show the ladder even if they aren't storing vote info in a database.

They put up a new one on the home page... but the one regarding HB 1224 and 7 others are all still up and running here:

we've dropped another percent since I last checked.

Their script (or group) pounding the poll is running double speed compared to earlier this afternoon. They are picking up a percent about every 10-15 minutes now. They'll catch up in a few hours.

Minds were made up, wording of laws were scripted by bloomberg, etc etc. The fat lady has sung accept your fate and do what you feel is necessary regarding any gun law signed 7/1/2013.

Judging from a lot of board members post / replies i have no doubt 15-30% of you will fall lock step in line. Yep... when they started it this afternoon, they were getting about a vote a second. Later... that doubled to 2 votes a second. It appears now it is about 3-4 votes per second. That makes me think script that was installed on multiple machines. Each time it doubled in speed... there was half an hour to an hour lull right before it did.
