View Full Version : Long life magazines
I had plenty of magazines for me, but I have two boys, so they ordered some PMags. However, I realize that, on average, I go through a PMag a year in competition, meaning they are unreliable, cracked or otherwise damaged. So the boys also bought a few each of the AR-Stoner/C-Products stainless steell mags and Lancer AWM mags. These mags are more durable long term and can be left loaded indefinately. In addition, the AR-Stoner/C-Products (20, 30, 40) can be easily made into .450 Bushmaster mags holding 8, 12 and 15 rounds repsectively.
So if your kids are buying mags, you might recomend to them that they consider the AR-Stoner/C-Products mags and maybe a few Lancers as well.

Mark,
Based on your comment about steel mags in another post, I started scouring around looking for what is, or MAY be, available. Here are the 30rd steel (body) mags I found:
* C-Products
* E-lander
* PRI
I also looked around for reviews to see how these mags are rated by users. I already use PRI mags for the 6.8 and they have worked GREAT - though damn expensive at more than $40 each. Their 5.56 mags are currently backordered with no ETA. The E-lander seem to have a spotty rep. Some users rate them well and others complain of quality issues. Their pricing is normal at about $20 each, and they are shipping albeit 2-3 months out so they MAY not arrive before the 7/1 deadline. C-Products are available at Midway for $14 apiece, but limited to 2 per person and enjoy above average user reviews.
The Lancer AWM appears to be a hybrid with polymer body mated with steel feed lips. These are rated really high, but availability is poor.
This is the extent of the research I've been able to pull together. I am set for P-Mags, but, as I said, based on your endorsement of steel mags I've been looking around quite a bit. If you have any other brands you like, please let me/us know which ones are quality mags.
Thanks.
Think you have it covered.
When you search Midway, look for both AR-Stoner and C-Products stainless steel bodied mags. They carry both and both have been spotty available over the last week or so.
DSG had Lancers on backorder/in stock at various times over the last month. That is where the boys got theirs from.
