I'm actually thinking his choice might have just cost him the election. He would have got the votes from the people who never wanted to see a woman or a black man as president. I'm sure he'll get some of the womens votes just because his vp would be a woman though.
He can't go after Obama's lack of experience hard core anymore since she's young and only 2 years as governor. Dems can throw back how old he is, and how she might have to take over his presidency.

I agree with you Doug I think Mcain just bagged the election with his vp pick. I also think mrs. Palin is just what this country needs she is about whats right for we the people not corporate america.

I thought it was an excellent pick. She is the true conservative this ticket needed, and she's well, a she.
I think initially the press will try and make this a bad pick, much like they tried to make the Biden pick a good one. They'll spin it for awhile, the sheep will nibble, but once they get to know her, they'll all come around.
She has more experience than Obama, she's young, she's pretty, and she's conservative. What's not to like?
This pick will only help to bring the conservative fence sitters on board, bring the hillary voters on board, and won't in any way serve to weaken the ticket in my humble opinion. Lets face it, the liberals aren't voting for McCain as it is, so who cares what they think. I don't think anyone is going to jump ship because of this pick.

I've noticed that at least one fairly liberal board is foaming at the mouth today. Hardly any mention of Obama's babbling last night and devoting the day to trashing her. Lot of "Jr. college beauty queen podunk mayor" type comments, pretty immature stuff even to someone that hangs around arfcom GD. They've also convinced themselves that 143 days of senatorial experience is far more impressive than 2 or so years governing a state (because Alaska is podunk sticksville not nearly as important as Chicago). Rather amusing, but I have to give it a break or I'm going to get banned from the place.

I was praying Mcain would pick her but in all honesty I thought it would be Romney. I was about the happiest mofo alive when I woke up this morning and seen Mcain picked Palin.
She is one straight shooter and takes no crap, she is very bright, her integrity is impecable, she is very well spoken, she has proven through her actions she serves the PEOPLE, I would be proud to see her as the leader of this great country.
I am not a Mcain fan and would have bit my lip and punched the ticket, now however I will actually feel good when I cast my vote. I know Mcain did what he did for political reasons, However I am not sure if he realizes the can of woop a$$ he just opened. She is what every politician should be in my opinion.
As far as Delphi, We have all volenteered to donate a one way ticket out of this country. I feel the only hope is for us all to contact NASA and see if there is any way we could donate to them. They need to send a titan V rocket up his a$$ with a hubble telescope as that it the only hope of ever finding his head.

I still have a Barr sticker on my car, even though I never planned on voting Libertarian this time with Heller having been so close, but I'm seriously considering ripping that off and getting a Palin sticker (at least until immediately after I vote, when my back window will return to uncluttered). I really didn't think there was anything any party could do to get my attention, I vote Republican only because of the 2nd amendment. I have very little respect for single-issue voters but that is the litmus test for me... What was I talking about? Oh, right. Not just because she's attractive and nearly my age, but the more I learn about her the more I like/respect her. I will be disappointed if McCain doesn't win not just because of the attack on our life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness that Obama will launch, but because I honestly think she could be the best thing to happen to the party and this country since Reagan.
Although I don't dislike McCain as much as a lot of more conservative types do, I wasn't exactly excited about his candidacy until today. I don't agree with a few of her politics, but dammit I could see us holding on for 12 years if she doesn't have skeletons in her closet.

This thread is about Mcains choice as VP and what we all think about it. So this is how it is going to go.....

Actually I think she was an excellent choice and I would be voting republican if she was on top of the ticket with mccain as VP. Sadly thats not the case. I would totally support Palin for president. I never said anything negative about her accept for the fact that i dont think she's as hot as some claim, which was meant to be funny more than anything else. She is actually one of the few conservatives left in the republican party.
Now as for answering questions? What questions were specifically asked of me? All I've seen here is lots of angry republicans bashing on an independent because they believe I don't have the right to have the political opinion I do. Any questions you want answered I'll gladly answer.

#2 We don't have the right to purchase auto weapons post 1987
#3 We don't have the right to protect ourselves on government property or in schools
#4 We don't have the right to decide who are next president will be (electoral college anyone?)
#5 We don't have the right to determine what the government appropriates our tax money to
#6 We don't have the right to a private conversation on cell phones
#7 We don't have the rights to purchase banned ammo
#8 We don't have the rights to purchase certain types of new "assault rifles" such as the styer aug that are on the banned importation list because they look evil
#9-????? We don't have the right to many many more things
There are allot of rights we've lost and I could probably do hours of research and write a book on all the rights that we have lost or never had. The above are just things that are off the top of my head and actually important to me. If you really want more I can do some research and let you know.

I read a few pages of this book once and it was really quite interesting, I think I'll finish it and let you guys know some of the main ones we've lost. If your interested in the topic it may be a worthwhile read.
Also one thing that's really pissing me off about our government and the way things work is that I have to work my ass off to put my self through college I'm paying $4000 a semester that's $8000 a year to go to college. I'm working and going to school getting great grades. Working my ass off plain and simple, yet I see a girl maybe 20 years old who already has a 4 year old kid get a free ride through college and doesn't have to work at all just because she got knocked up. She is being rewarded for bad behavior or how about the fact that just because someone's parents don't make much money the state/feds pay for there entire education? My parents make my fafsa score high which means I don't get didly squat while almost everyone else does. Do I get anything from my parents? Hell no, I'm stuck out here working 40-60 work weeks and studying long hours each day to keep my 4.0 GPA. I see lots of people getting free rides with the money I'm paying into the tax system while I'm getting the short end of the F'ing stick. Hell yes I'm mad! And then the government on top of that wants to take my rights away? Or how about the racism because I'm white? I don't qualify for many scholarships just because I'm a white male.
I have to pay for my car, insurance, gas, college, books, internet(required for school), apartment, health insurance all on just $14 an hour. I haven't gotten to go shoot in over a year (anything above .22) because I can't afford the cost of ammunition anymore. Food sucks because that's my budget lee-way. Girlfriends? Forget about it, I can't even afford to take one out on a date. I have to slave away and work my ass off living in pretty damned bad conditions while I see gangbangers in the welfare state driving around in low riders having fun all day long and pumping out babies while getting a quality education for FREE! Yes I've applied for internships but I haven't gotten any because of bloody affirmative action, they don't need white males apparently. I just turned 21 this year on July 19 and havent even been able to afford to get my concealed carry permit or take pay for the class, nor have I had any alcohol yet, I dont have any freinds in the place i've relocated to so I dont have much fun out here. The freinds thing is most likley my fault but than again I just dont have enough time for freinds :(
And you guys wonder why I'm not very fond of republicans or democrats? They have failed me, they have demoralized me and they are rewarding bad behavior in our society.
Also about my spelling yes I'll admit when I'm lazy I write like crap, but I don't have much time and I use my brain all freaking day long. It's good to turn it off, I don't have TV so forums and other activities on the internet are my only way to have some fun and even let off some steam. Yes this is mostly a long "cry me a river" story and no I'm not a begger I work hard for everything I have. I just thought it may put into perspective as to why I'm so angry or as to why an "ungrateful turd" like myself complains so much. I see others that dont deserve handouts get benifits off MY TAX money while I cant afford jack shit myself. Also I didnt get much as in tax returns this year and becasue of the overtime I work and the fact that I'm single. They take me to the bank each paycheck and take arround 25-35% of my money away... That extra money that they take would be just enough for me to have good food and somthing that somewhat resembles normal life.

We've never been able to pick and choose on an individual basis where our tax dollars are spent. Attempting to do so would be utter chaos. Our founders were smart enough to understand this and instituted a representative form of government. Do I think that the people need to speak up and rein in their representatives? Absolutely. Do I think voting for someone that thinks the same way I do but can't get elected will help? Absolutely not.
You have the opportunity to go to college. Nobody guaranteed you anything other than that. You're not the only person in the country getting screwed because your parents make enough that you don't qualify for assistance yet don't make enough to pay your way. Welcome to the world! I went through the same thing 24 years ago. You can't see that you have an opportunity that people in some countries would kill to have? There's likely a legal immigrant sitting next to you in class that's putting themselves through school and is happily doing so. I've watched several people come to this country on visas and bust their ass, teach themselves English, work their way to citizenship, the joy of having the opportunity to buy their first car, their first home, etc. They have and are realizing the American dream while people born and raised here seem to bitch and moan.
Would I like to see our federal government go back to the days when it was founded and largely stayed out of our lives and operated strictly under the guidance of the Constitution? Sure. Do I have any delusions that will happen? No. I understand human nature and that is entirely unrealistic.
I'm a conservative. I have to work through whatever avenues best represent what I want my government to be. The Republican party has historically been the closest to what I want to see. They've recently done a very poor job of representing me. They no longer get contributions from me as a result. When they again find their way and start moving back toward my conservative ideals, that will likely change. Yet, I am a realist. Voting for a 3rd party will do nothing more than ensure a victory for Obama and the radical Democrats that really want to negatively impact my life. Sometimes you have to move in baby steps. If McCain can get elected, that puts Palin in prime position to run for the top spot in 2012. That's when Hillary would also be wanting to get the top spot again. There is some strategy being played here that goes beyond the next few months.

I've got a lot of debt from my late wife's medical bills and have another batch getting ready to hit for the last go-round. Is that the government's fault? No. Does that make me believe that government health care is the answer? No. I can't stand welfare or affirmative action. But to whine about what you have to do compared to someone getting a hand out sure isn't a way to support your argument. Shhhtuff happens in life. There are worse things in life than not being able to afford to go shooting whenever you want. Life's tough, get a helmet.
The government has no place being involved in most of what they're doing. You can't wish that away. You have to do what you can to change it. Voting to make yourself feel better for a day sure doesn't help. Sometimes holding your nose and pulling the lever is the best way of not screwing yourself.
Seeing as you just turned 21, there's something else that you might want to learn. They don't hand out wisdom. It's something that is earned over time and the price is high. Listen to those that have paid their dues as you're likely to learn something.

As to medical bills to some extent it is the governments fault. Illegal immigrants and other people get free medical care and pass those costs on to bill paying americans like you and me. So yes portions of it are our governments fault.

I think you guys are forgetting the fact that full auto weapons are illegal for production and sale to civilians post 1987 thus forcing civilians to use overpriced old weapons. Always trying to leave out the real facts... sure $200 and a permit sounds great, leaving out the artificial prices set by our freindly liberals does not. Although you left that out :)

Oh get yourself the firefox browser, and in tools activate the spell checker function. It will underline in red misspelled words. In the internet world it doesn't matter if you cared enough to actually learn to spell correctly, it matters that the outcome is proper spelling so your words will taken seriously.

It will be interesting to see how the RNC works out. The Dems will want to make political hay out of Gustav. Even if the Reps just point out the facts how well everyone worked together with 5 Rep Govs and the Whitehouse, the Dems will cry "Foul!" It is nice to see the dichotomy of the DNC spending all of their money and time glorifying themselves compared to the RNC and concern for the citizenry in harms way.

Have you guys heard the stink being made about Palin's 17 year old daughter being pregnant? She plans to marry the father. I can't fault the mother for that. Happened to my sister and she put the baby up for adoption. The opposition probably can't figure out why she didn't just have an abortion.
