Hey guys, building a few more rifles and wanted a little advise! Anybody used Del-Ton's kits? are they worthy? Anything to watch out for with them, and anybody know of another company that sells customizable kits like this? Any advise would be great!

Also curious on twist rates for 16" barrels. I mostly shoot military 55-62grain ammo. What would the advantages be of a 1/7" or a 1/9" twist be in comparison to each other? Which is better with mil-spec ammo? what are other popular bullet grain weights to use in each of the twists?

Thanks again!

~Ben

Go with 1 in 9 twist. 1 in 7 is for heavier bullet.(69gr +) Military uses 1 in 7 to stablize tracier rds. 1 in 9 will give you your best MOA w those bullets.

1 in 9 gives a really good balance of performance for 55-62gr.

Thats kinda what I was leaning towards, my current 16" setup is 1/9 and i love it. my old 20" setup was 1/7 and it was great too, but from you guys input ill probably stick /w 1/7

what about del-ton? anybody have experience with them?

Tony builds a lot of off caliber stuff also.

Don't be afraid to give them a call.. they are good folks.

I bought a Del-Ton standard 20" kit and have been happy with it. They forgot a setscrew for the rear sight, but sent one asap when I called them about it. I haven't fired it much, but looks to be well made for the $$$. I'll use them again for an upper when I build up my Cav Arms lower.

I have been doing business with Tony for years. Kits are great and never had a problem. I've built close to 40 uppers and lowers and never have had a bad egg. Their new lower is very tight and leaves little to no play.
