Long story short removing a barrel today and I cracked the front lug on the upper.
Do you guys think it can be fixed? I would chock it up to a loss but it is a bcm and I doubt I can find a new one

I believe I saw a thread where Tinelement fixed up a broken lug of some sort and it came out great.
Might want to give him a shout to see if he would be interested in looking at it.

Holy shit you must have been torquing that bitch hard!!

BCM upper barrel nuts are on TIGHT!! I broke teeth off mine before I have up and had Rob at bowers remove it. I didn't have a cheap multi tool either it was a dedicated barrel wrench.

Not super hard did not even have that much weight into it. It happened because of an oversight on how I had my pins in the receiver block and upper I am going to take it to rob tomorrow and see what his thoughts are

Pictures? I weld Aluminum every day so if it can be fixed I have the technology.
Text the pic anytime.

This is why fixtures that use the pin bosses to secure the receiver are a bad plan. Clamshells are much better IMO.
Weld up the crack and make it a dedicated 22LR.

+1 pics - how broken is it? The pins are not a highly-stressed area, generally, so even some fairly lightweight fixes could be more than enough to fix you up.

I used a freinds pin boss holder instead of my clamshell and since then my upper feels "looser" on the lower. Not enough to matter really, but a tick annoying since it was nice and tight to begin with.

Without seeing pictures, i would try TIG welding it and recutting the threads, and do some test stand fires to see how it holds up. i would check headspace after the repair to make sure nothing was changed in that area. Its worth a try IMO.
