View Full Version : Anybody Have AT&T?
My service has been disappearing for no reason recently. Literally phone sitting on a desk with lose service and sometimes not come back for 15 minutes. Also it will randomly drop from LTE to Edge and won't go back to LTE unless I put it in airplane mode and then back to normal. Just want to make sure my phone isn't the issue and its actually AT&T that's the problem.

I've got AT&T. We haven't had any problems with any of our phones (3).
I'm in Evergreen and have AT&T. I actually did notice this, this past week. It'd be on my desk, and go to "No Service". Then it'd come back. Right now i'm at 4 bars of 5, and earlier it was one. So i'm not sure what's going on but I did notice that this week and go "huh..."

I'm in the middle of nowhere with ATT and weird stuff happens all the time. It's not new though. One minute 5 bars, the next minute none. ATT is the only one that has coverage at the house though.
Last summer there was a couple times where I'd lose total connectivity and could only get it back by restarting the phone.

Had...
"Mr Byte Stryke, if you read your terms of service, we are not obligated to provide you service anywhere."
"But I live in a Major metropolitan area... I am not even considered a suburb."
"I am sorry sir, we cannot help you."
Over the 20 years we've had cell phones we've had AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon. AT&T has been the absolute worst with dropped calls and areas we can't seem to get coverage. We had them back in '96 and when the contract was up we went to T-Mobile where we almost NEVER had a problem with dropped calls or lack of coverage. About 4 years ago we wanted an iphone and the only carrier was AT&T. Went back to them and it was just as bad as I remembered. We were up in Breckenridge (4 years ago mind you), I could hardly get a signal to call, let alone send a text. While my buddy on Verizon had zero issues and this was at the Base Lodge at Peak 7. Switched to Verizon when the got the Iphone and have had very few issues...
Won't do AT&T unless I have no other choice.
AT&T on 4 iphones. Service is much better then T-Mobile was, I can actually get service at the house now. Verizon however seems to have the best coverage by far, but your gonna pay!

Assuming iPhone
First try to reset your network settings. Settings --> General --> All the way to the bottom - Reset --> Rest Network Settings. You will have to re-enter your WiFi information when this is done, but I have seen this help and it is the first step CS will do with you.

I don't have good luck with AT&T. Always lose calls.
And for IPhones, 6 in 3 yrs. So those aren't working out very well either!

Just switched to Verizon after almost 20 yrs with AT&T; was having all sorts of problems with dropped calls, lack of coverage, and not getting messages (both text & voice) in a timely manner.
Sounds like I'm not the only one who has issues with AT&T. Ive reset my network settings which only fixes the issue for a few hours tops. Like someone else said, I'm in a pretty populated city and being Boulder I'm sure there's a high concentration of iPhones. I would've expected better.
I had AT&T and they had more dead zones in more places than Verizon which I have now. tom
I have ATT and it works great, there are 2 places near the JeffCo airport where it drops but that is it.
Quality coverage is also dependent on the phone you're using. I use a 5yo RAZR phone which has a terrific antennae, it works in the elevator at my job from basement to 4th floor. I used a different phone for a couple of months and it dropped calls in both places the RAZR drops and in a whole bunch of other places.

I have noticed really crappy signals and many dropped calls with AT&T lately.

They might have redoing the net work in that area. I work for tmobile so I'm not defending anyone, just a thought.

The switchover to LTE from 4G lately sucks. The phone will jump from one to another moving a couple hundred feet from the front of the office to back.
On my drive home it switches at least 5 times and very often causes the phone to hang up.
Try this: http://www.cellreception.com
For the neighborhood I live in, AT&T was almost nonexistent in terms of coverage. I could occasionally call if I was on my front porch, but never indoors. We switched to Verizon and all is well.
