Probably too much grease underneath the clamps.

Hey I've been looking for my pah paws ol 22 for a couple year now. I mounted that scope and borrowed it to a buddy and never saw it again after he went to jail. I had those screws tightened down to 65 in/lbs, like the manufacturer suggested. You think I can get the owners info so I can be reunited?

I am guessing he didn't have those hose clamps tightened down enough. You really have to get on those with some torque. [LOL]

Gotta us constant torque clamps, regular old hose clamps are only good for mounting a mag lite to the barrel

Whatever you don't turn it over to the Firearms Protection Agency. Like just about every other agency it has been taken over by the Progressive Libs. The only thing they do to any gun they get is turn them over to the Cost to Benefit Committees for euthanizing.

That gun still has a long and useful life if given to a caring home.
