If music be the food of love, play on - Shakespeare

The fundraiser was a HUGE success!! Final numbers are in. We needed about $3K for instrument repairs, overhauls, and maintenance to get this program back up and running again. That is an insurmountable number for our demographic and socio-economic area.... We netted over $3500. It's a miracle in this small town! The concert was a lot of fun. The Pikes Peak Highlanders are a class act and did really well. My kids performed decently. The silent auction was the biggest money maker. Thank you to all whom donated, etc. Yes, we even had two PMAG's auctioned off and no one in admin batted an eye, lol. It was great.

Now just to get the money to the bank and write a check for the repair guys. This Bear is excited!

Thank you again to those select who donated on here. Thank you, thank you.

Sincerely and with the utmost in respect,
BigBear

Bear, just now seeing this thread. Awesome news.

You're efforts to bring music into the lives of these kids is paying off. I know it's been an uphill climb the entire way, and it will continue to be so, but you should be very proud of all that you've accomplished and know that the results of your efforts will live on longer than you can imagine.

Proud of ya Bear!

Good on you, Bear! And congratulations!

Making a difference in the lives of children the way you are is a truly noble thing.

I've studied and practiced music for almost three decades. I was very fortunate to have studied under some very great teachers; I'm still friends with them.

This is excellent work Bear.

Belly, I work in a low income school. We had a fundraiser. Yes Sir, I am a musician. If you ever need a trumpet player (weddings, funerals, concerts, parties, civic events, change of commands, etc) I'm your guy.

Congratulations Big Bear. Sorry, I've knee deep in Sh*t at work all day to play on the forum. [Beer]

Uh huh, I hear excuses... Ha, thanks bro.

Close. I live in the Springs, but I actually work just South of Pueblo (Colorado City/Rye area).

Aww, you're proud of me?! Thanks... (check's in the mail suck up). Seriously though, you're opinion means a lot to me. We still need to get together for lunch or something some time.

I hope I'm making a difference... only time will tell. Thanks!

Would love to hear some stories some time....

Actually no, it was one of the higher profits items for the silent auction. Bunch of country folk, go figure, HAHA.

Awsome job! Thanks for working so hard for the kids!

Whew, I try to undo all the left/liberal brainwashing the other teachers try to instill... I'm the favorite, HA!

A great cause for sure. I have zero musical ability other than steering wheel drumming but music does amazing things. Motivates, relaxes, just makes the world better.

Oh anything throughout your career. Music stories. I got a few good ones from the season I spent with the Temptations when they were on tour. Or, there's a funny one about Maynard (RIP) when he forgot his horn once. Or, there's always the "this one time at band camp..." stuff, HAHAHA.

Nope, can't ruin this good mood, lol.

My first professional gig was as a stage musician for the Moody Blues. That was 1993. I had no idea who they were, but my parents tried their hardest to get some tickets or something out of me. I didn't understand the big deal. Then I read up on the history of the band.

I was 13 years old and I got paid a whopping $75.
