Can anyone help me with trying to get into an AR-15 competition of any kind? I'm new to the area and wanna test my skills.

Go to the Pueblo Tactical Rifle competition, it starts this Sunday. Know your holdovers out to about 400 yds. You don't need anything fancy. A few magazines and ammo will get you through it. A couple magazine pouches on your belt, maybe some knee and elbow pads if you want to get fancy. Eye and ear protection. You'll get to learn to shoot in the wind there also. Check your ego at the door, you are only competing against yourself and will learn a lot. The hardest part is showing up. I'm the tall guy.

Zak (board member) and Thunder beast suppressor guy runs the 3 gun. The range is private but opens it's gates for numerous comps, as you will find in the events calendar. I've been a member there almost 25 yrs, great range check it out. Little closer than pueblo but all the comps are worth the drive.

I know I've seen people with ARs at the John C. Garand Memorial (http://crci.org/EventSchedule/tabid/2216/Default.aspx) matches. Not often, and they've always been National Match A2 rifles, but they've been there.

The match format is is a fairly standard static high-power match. 10 rounds rapid prone on a bullseye at 100, 10 slow prone at 200, and 10 offhand at 200 or something like that.
