Long time listener, first time caller.

One thing I have not seen discussed is finding out what buisnesses support or are associated with Hickenlooper and the other folks who are involved with these bills, and boycotting them. Kind of like the no ccw, no money page at RMGO.

Any ideas?

Sounds like a good idea to me. If anyone can track down the list of donors to Hick's gubernatorial campaign, we might be able to pin point a few of them from there....

I'm in. We should boycott anything he's invested in as well. Does anyone know what businesses he's got his grubby little paws in? I stopped going to Wynkoop (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wynkoop_Brewing_Company)a long time ago. Anyone know what other businesses he's involved in?

Lets do some digging. I heard that Wynkoop has pubes in their beer. That's what someone told me anyway.

I found a list of Hickenlooper campaign donors here http://votesmart.org/candidate/campaign-finance/71547/john-hickenlooper

Seems hard to decipher. Lots of small donations.

Why stoop down to the liberal level?

Agree ^^ I'm all for slamming the left (and often do), but only using factual and accurate "ammunition" (no pun intended).

Why stoop down to the liberal level?

Because i am tired of being nice to the fucking duechebags! We need to personally attack them like they do us.

And yes boycott all them motherfuckers! I have already started by buying WY fishing/hunting licenses instead of kolorado.

Hicks ownership group is involved in at least 7 restaurant, bars, breweries in this state. We need to verify ALL of them and get the boycotts rolling. We need to make sure he loses far more cash in Colorado than he will ever gain from his upcoming federal appointment.

Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 58 $2,500.00. I'm sure there are others.

ETA: Looks like Copic Insurance was the top donor at $5,000.

Please say he doesn't have ownership in Odells, I'd hate to have to quit drinking their beers...

Good luck with that, I'm sure they've already got a high paying cushy appointment all ready for him.

It would be a brewpub restaurant that specialized in all-natural, small-batch beers. He found investors and did it on the cheap. He called it Wynkoop Brewing Company. Within five years, he had pubs all over the state and all over the country. His second was Cooper Smith’s Pub & Brewing in Fort Collins, then the Phantom Canyon Brewing Company in Colorado Springs. Along the way he bought a few local places like Wazee Supper Club and the Pearl Street Grill. He created local partnerships that opened brewpubs like Wynkoop in cities such as Omaha, Des Moines, Green Bay, Wichita, and San Francisco.
The business model was to take the same all-natural craft brew and historic-building idea and partner with local investors. It worked, until it didn’t. The business expanded too quickly. Hickenlooper didn’t have control over all of the out-of-state operations; some of the partners in other cities did things differently than Hickenlooper, and he ended up with some “strugglers,” prompting him to sell off his interest in almost all of the out-of-state businesses. As mayor, he put the management of the bars and restaurants, along with all of his business interests, in a blind trust. By the time he’d run for governor—in what was perhaps one of the strongest signs that he’d given up business and committed himself to politics—Hickenlooper had sold off all of his interests in the brewpubs except for Cooper Smith’s and the Beach Chalet in San Francisco.

Go there and put a roach in your food, then complain loudly. Everyone take turns make it happen a few times per week, then start writing on yelp. Multiple complaints on yelp, along with being loud should do the trick. Do this for like six months. Those around you will start to question...

My business is firmly against all of these new "laws." I have already experienced a slowdown in sales even though business was booming before the talk of a CO boycott. I do not have a brick and mortar store and all of my sales are online.

Please say it ain't so. I just think their burgers are fantastic, but I will boycott them and all other Hickenlooper affiliated things.

Denver mayor sells interest in eateries
By George Merritt
Denver Post Staff Writer
Article Last Updated: 08/27/2007 06:55:23 AM MDT

Mayor John Hickenlooper will no longer be the owner of the Wynkoop Brewing Company, the Cherry Cricket or the other restaurants around Denver that established him as an entrepreneur.
Ownership members of Wynkoop Holdings Inc. voted Friday to buy the mayor out of the group, a source close to the deal confirmed Sunday.
Details of the deal were not available Sunday night.
Hickenlooper has kept his ownership in Wynkoop Holdings in a blind trust since he took office in 2003 to avoid conflicts of interest.
Other restaurants owned by the group include Gaetano’s, Goosetown Tavern and the Wazee Supper Club.

Don't just boycott Hick's beer.

Every beer you buy in Colorado, you pay state excise taxes on.

And Federal excise taxes as well.

And it's perfectly legal, in Colorado, to brew not more than 50 gallons per household per year of beer or wine, for household use, without any permits or tax payments or whatever.

Sooo....anybody up for a recipe-sharing thread? Ten pounds of Maris Otter, mashed warm, and three ounces of Cascade FWH, with almost any ale yeast, is one of my faves.

Home distillation isn't quite legal, but it's still perfectly legal to buy bourbon in Cheyenne, I think. And I have a lot less heartburn with Wyoming collecting sales taxes from me, than Colorado, right now.
