View Full Version : Help with Windows 8
First off I am not a computer guru so I dont know the ins and outs of them, but with that being said Windows 8 is the biggest piece of shit I ever used. What a horrible OS. I absolutely hate it.
First off can I turn that ridiculous slide on the mouse pad to bring up the Windows side bar? It comes up with barely swiping and is annoying as hell. For some reason this computer also does not support certain things like my others do.
Big question, can I go and get Windows 7 and install it on this laptop an ddo away with W8 all together? Yes I hate it that much its absolutely junk.
I agree that windows 8 is a pos. My new work laptop has it and it is horrible. Yes, you should be able to load windows 7 on it

Install this and it will turn Windows 8 into Windows 7. I will also give you back your start menu! Windows 8 is almost the same as Win7 with an interface makeover for touch screens.

The underpinnings of Windows 8 are every bit as good as Windows 7, the thing that sucks about it is Metro (the new GUI).
Got a new computer here at the office for our bookkeeper and it had Windows 8 on it, other than the fact that it'll no longer share its printer with the old XP machines on the network without all but coding my own drivers from scratch, and the usual problems associated with running 32bit apps on a 64bit machine (getting Quickbooks Point of Sale to work properly was an effing nightmare since it didn't seem to understand that it was now installed in c:\Program Files (x86) and not in c:\Program Files) the first thing I had to do is find a way to get it to start up on the desktop (instead of the stupid Metro buttons thing) and get the start menu back.
Several solutions to that last problem here http://www.extremetech.com/computing/141702-how-to-bring-the-start-menu-and-button-back-to-windows-8 (I installed Pokki (http://www.pokki.com/windows-8-start-menu) as it had some neeto extra features but StartMenu8 also looks pretty easy to use ... I couldn't bring myself to pony up any actual cash to get the damn start menu back ... later I found Classic Shell (http://www.classicshell.net/) which looks pretty cool as well and is free).
If somebody got my old plotter to work on windows 8 I would be forever greatfull
You know if you got a macbook you would not have these problems, just saying...
