No Colorado cities in there. Soon to change if we don't make some changes to the legislature here for the better.

Good thing we passed BGC and mag limit laws, wouldn't want any Colorado cities on that list.[panic]

I just noticed Chitcago was ranked as 79th...how could that be...shouldn't it be closer to the top five?

Farmington, NM is #59? That seems a bit strange.

yeah I'm calling BS on that. No way that's only 79. Whoever came up with the rankings should take a stroll on the South Side.

Camden, NJ at #2... wow, not surprised in the least. I have a friend from just outside there, went to go visit on a 3-day weekend and holy crap, never had I wished I was in an MRAP with a full load of troops in the back in a US city!

Most likely a violent crime per capita measure, so lower population areas with high amounts of violent crime during the study period will rank higher than say Chicago which has a high amount of violence but also has a huge population.

Not sure though without access to the overall study.

Edit:
from the original source

Our research reveals the 100 most dangerous cities in America with 25,000 or more people, based on the number of violent crimes per 1,000 residents. Violent crimes include murder, forcible rape, armed robbery, and aggravated assault. Data used for this research are 1) the number of violent crimes reported to the FBI to have occurred in each city, and 2) the population of each city.

I'd love to comment on a common denominator from the worst cities on the list but I"m afraid my comments would be seen as ________ and I'd be banned because political correctness is alive and well even after most people complain about it in public forums.

I spent a few years living and going to jr high school in East Saint Louis. Any explaination by me about why it is #1 would be considered racist.

Someone must of made a mistake,
there must of been a mistake,
Looks like a lot of Cities in New York, New Jersey, East Coat, west Coast, where they have the Strictest Gun Laws? Those are Liberal States. Tough on Gun Owners.
We will have a Safer Germany, opps, Colorado, & a safer World. Adolf Hitlenlooper.

I believe Chicago has moved up some. Denver & Aurora will probably get in the top 100 in a few years.
Colorado Gun Control & the Liberal Denver Socialists Party of Colorado will help to make it happen.
Thanks, Hick, Nice Job.
Thanks for Cheering me up?
This is a Great Forum, Please help if you can to keep it a Great Forum.
I hope this isn't to Abrasive?

Spartanburg SC surprises me a bit. 12 is high for that list.

Lists like this, and the UCR of course, are only as good as the raw data. Big-city Democrat politicians have an incentive to manipulate the data before it gets submitted, as well as taking advantage of per capita when it suits them.

Bet if you compare that list to poverty levels in the cities, you can see a correlation.

How do they define "violence crime" in the research? Does some drunk smashing a glass panel count?

I think the small divisions of the larger towns that have problems got bumped up too much. The list is all about rates, regardless of the size of the community. The list is pretty worthless.

Maybe someone already said this, but there are several suburbs of Chicago that are much higher up. Harvey IL for example. Still Chicago, still under their state laws based on county and district.

I broke down in east Saint Louis driving cross country in my 1970 Opel GT. I can vouch for what a hell hole that place is, I spent two nights there waiting for a water pump to be shipped to the repair shop / meth lab that the tow truck dropped my car off at.
