View Full Version : Best way to remove glue residue?
Gonna take off my talon grips. What's a good method to remove the glue residue?
Acetone or denatured alcohol.
I use 3m adhesive remover in the aerosol can I got mine at taco zone, but I'm sure any auto supply store sells it.

"Goo Off" works good.

Adhesive remover works, WD40 also works. Have to be careful with acetone/alcohol on some plastics.

I meant the goo gone sorry, if I recall correctly it contains petroleum distillates and some kind of citrus fruit extract.

This. Always try a small area to see how it reacts. You can also use making tape to "tack" it off. I have also used baking soda on delicate paint situations.

Try Dawn dish soap and warm water not hot. I would be reluctant to use some of the previously mentioned solvents unless you dont care about the finish on your firearm.

Acetone can attack many finishes. WD-40 works almost every time.

The 3M remover IS the shit, and you can weaken it a little bit with windex if you feel you need to. Dampen a cloth with it, don't just pour it all over the place.
Car-15...I almost had a monitor incident when I read Taco Zone.... thx for the laugh on that.
WD40 may be slow, but it has never hurt anything I've used it on. 3m stuff is good to but it dries some stuff out, same with goo gone.

I use Goo-Gone at the Hospital. The cleaning crew is hell on Calibration stickers and have you ever seen what a nurse can do with medical tape? [Rant1]
I got mine at taco zone Down here in the middle part of the Peoples Republic of Colorforina we call it "Vato-Zone" [Flower]

I dunno, I think maybe paramedics would give your nurses a run for the money on tape use. That shit gets stuck all over the backs of those cars, ceiling, walls, grab rails, seats, etc.
*edited to add Vato Zone.... lmao*
Try sniffing it off the surface it's residing on...

VM&P naphtha is what I've always used (buy it by the gallon for my business). I always need to remove double faced tape residue. It won't hurt any finish. Lighter fluid is the same thing, except more refined and more expensive.

Lol used this method but took awhile.
always stick with a classic WD40
as the legend/myth/lie was told to me
WD40 was made to take off the adhesive from emergency aircraft repair tape (duct tape ) during ww2 .
