Posted on another forum. Guy is riding his bike through Detroit and this was given out by Detroit PD. Kind of interesting if you ask me considering all the awesome gun laws they have in place there. You would think it would be safe....right? this is what he wrote....

"The Detroit Police is admitting that they are grossly understaffed and can no longer keep the city safe. In fact, they are actaully warning people that they believe the city has become too dangerous to enter. The Detroit Police Department would like the public know that the explosion in violent crime has turned the city into a war zone that they can no longer police. Their “Enter At Your Own Risk” rally was meant to inform the public that the officers have become fearful for their own lives, which they blame on an epidemic level of violence caused by budget cuts and a grossly understaffed police force.

Detroit has become one of the most dangerous cities in the world with one of the highest homicide rates in the country. (Flint is actually #1 by a small margin)

Would like to see confirmation this is true. Something tells me it's an internet hoax.

Many of the biggest criminals in Detroit are elected officials.

This letter is a union campaign to obtain better pay and working conditions for police officers.

Life should be considered an "Enter at Your Own Risk" enterprise.

I've been in Detroit. I've seen worse.

Be safe.

According to: http://www.ar-15.co/threads/95913-The-100-most-violent-cities-in-the-U-S
they are only #6. They need to work a bit harder to get to number 1!
I'll call it now: internet hoax. (in 5-15 years it won't be for most major cities though)

The new "Red Dawn" movie was filmed in Detroit, they didnt have to change a thing to make it look like war torn streets. They just started filming, probably a lot of the gunshots where just regular everyday goings on.

Time to let Omni Corp take over the police force I guess.

Being from MI I can tell you it's actually a lot better now that back in the 80's when I saw people getting mugged in the corridor between the parking garage at Cobo Hall and The Joe. No one did anything about it at the time. Now, as with most major cities, as long as you stay out of the bad areas you're reasonably safe. I mean, I stay away from areas like 6 Mile Rd and Nollar St after dark just like I would 120th and Amsterdam in NYC.

This!! The sooner "the masses" understand this, the better off we will be. There is no fix all for bad things, bad shit happens, regardless of how many "preventative measures" big brother deems necessary.

Obviously a union move to try to get better working conditions, higher wages, etc. Didn't even have to read the article to see that.

It does seem like being a cop in Detroit would be a pretty awful job. I'm not a fan of unions and disagree with this tactic, but I empathize with the rank and file.

Eh, when the SHTF, Detroit will become Thunderdome. :-)

Or Kurt Russell will don a stylish eye patch and try escaping from it.

Kind of a funny story when we turned 19 I think it was we went to Canada to drink and we got lost in Detroit on our way there.. Tons of people just sitting on their porches and in their yards and what not and a group of what looked to be "thugs" started walking up to my buddies car.. It was a real nice impala ss with the vet engine.. We were at the stop light and one of the guys said I like your car. My buddy said thanks. The guy said " I want your car" and started over at a fast pace my buddy gunned it and we got the hell out of there with a couple buddies running into the street. They were cracking up we were scared shitless haha.. Now that we lived and they were probably just trying to scare us because they knew we took a wrong turn I can laugh about it. But we were small city farm kids so it was scary at the time for sure.

i hated Detroit every time I went to it.. From old pictures it looked like a really nice city. The last time I went down there I swear there were more crack houses than normal houses. Needs to be bulldozed and started over.
