So I was at the range for my usual Monday morning therapy session , and a new pistol I bought started having some issues with only 300 rounds on the clock . A month ago I picked up a new Sig 229 Elite Enhanced E2 , had a the perfect feel to it and was going to work it into my EDC after 500 clean rounds . But Unfortunately , after the multiple FTExtracts it will be going back to Sig this week .
This all got me to thinking , What was the most reliable pistol I have ever owned ? I've had stoppages with My Glock 17 , Beretta 92 , and all other assorted pistols I own / have owned . For me , I have one pistol that in 4.5k plus ( May not be much to some of you ) has NEVER EVER EVER had one single issue , not once . Not with factory , or my shitty reloads . For me it is a Beretta Storm F in 9mm . Crazy rotating barrel and all , not one EVER . What about you guys ?

I've owned somewhere in the neighborhood of 15 Glocks, everything from bone stock 26's to hot rodded 20's with aftermarket barrels and springs, never had a single gun related issue with any of them.
My USP hasn't failed in the 9 years I've had it, mostly shooting the cheapest ammo I can find. Haven't had my M&Ps long but so far so good.
I had a Glock 19 I used for IDPA for years. Never a single hiccup.
It was a second generation gun. I would shoot after work three nights a week, usually two or three hundred rounds and shot competition on weekends. Did this religiously for for several years, year round. When I first got it I kept track of the rounds fired in a little book. I quit counting at 10K rounds but continued to shoot it. I'm guessing it probably had about 15K rounds through it when I got rid of it.

M&P 9C ran without issue for 2000 rounds before I sold it. My Volkmann 1911 (I know, not polymer) is at 1500 rounds with no issues except one caused by a crappy magazine. My most reliable is my 625-2 in 45 ACP

Just to add , I was considering ANY stoppage . Crappy lacquer steel case , antique rounds that you found in Grandpas tool box , ammo dropped in the mud .... I suppose If I took into account this pistol like this or that ammo , my list would have been bigger . Add round counts if you would guys , and polymer or not it doesn't matter . Just the most reliable piece you've owned

That typically is the culprit or the magazine. FMJ ammo will usually feed reliably in most weapons. Gets interesting with HP ammo. Hornady 230g 45 ACP TAC ammo didn't get along with my COArms Scorpion 1911, but no issues with Golden Sabre or other premium self defense ammo in 45 ACP.
Hard to argue with Glock's reliability

That he is. Makes one helluva outstanding 1911. I have yet to clean the 1911 and it eats that Hornady TAP ammo like they were FMJ bullets. Just don't use crappy magazines.

Springfield XD 9mm. Only 1500 through it but not one single malfunction.
S&W Model 15 4" - digested thousands of +P and +P+ .38 Spl. Bang every time.
Semi-auto would be my Glock 22.
g17. 10k, 1 stoppage was mag related, there was sand in the mag after a day of stomping it into the dirt doing drills.
the other side of the coin least reliable;
pt145 500 rounds 200 malfunctions 3 trips to the factory
pt 92 100 rounds 5 stoppages
22 tracker 300 rounds broken
colt series 80 1k rounds and a slam fire kaboom
xd9 1k rounds lock up
p22 2k multiple misfires and misfeed
i'm sure there's more

Sig P228, my carry piece. Always goes bang, no issues. 1000's of rounds.
Colt 1911 gov Series 70 MKIV bone stock. Had well over 20,000 rounds without a single issue when it was stolen.

I estimate about 3K rounds through my Ruger P-95 without a hiccup of any type. I probably have about 800 through a Beretta Cougar F 9mm with not one malfunction of any type.
Just a couple of weeks ago I was bragging about how a Turkish made Beretta M9 clone had been so reliable without cleaning for about 1500 rounds. Literally 2 days later I was using it at a local fun gun match and it starting failing to eject every 6th round or so. Thought I was having ejector problems. Took it home, cleaned it and it runs like a top. Good reminder to take better care of anything I am using for defense purposes.
Opposite side of my coin would be a Springfield XD9. Shot approx. one box of ammo through it before the "striker retaining roll pin" broke.
I have also never had a hiccup of any type with my Beretta Storm .40 type F or my .45 type F. Although I don't shoot those much- maybe 5-600 total through the .40 and a couple hundred through the .45
The guns I shoot most are my G19 gen 3- probably close to 5K rounds through it with the occasional hiccup. I can count them on on hand, however.
I also have a lot of rounds through my turkish clone Beretta, with the only issues being what I described above- 100% my fault, but out of curiosity I wanted to see how long it would go without an issue. I have just started shooting my Cougar a little more as well, so time will tell on that one...
My Beretta Neos is far and away the most reliable .22 autoloader I have. A few hiccups here and there out of about 1500 rounds so far. Cleaned it once...

I've put over 14,000 rounds through my Springfield XDm 9mm in the past year and a half and have had no malfunctions. Ultra-reliable!
Never one single issue with any of my real* Sigs.

Ruger P89 tons of ammo no problems, XD9 over 3k no problems, STI 1911 9mm problems with Wilson 10rd mag
I think my M&P went at least 5,000 rounds before I had some issues. Replaced the main spring and it was fine. Now it will occasionally have a hick-up with some reloads that I bought, never with factory ammo though.

M&P 9mm Full size, never malfunctioned in any way related to the pistol, I've had one or two ammunition issues, but they were reloads and the weapon was exceptionally dirty.
I have a Sig 226 that I have beaten to death. Still as accurate as the day I bought it.

Gen 3 Glock 19 with 9500+ rounds. Longest it went without cleaning was 3250rds of Wolf and Tula then it started having some FTE issues. At 7700rds, I gave it a healthy treatment of Frog Lube, and it has been very smooth and slick ever since. Big +1 for a Glock coated in Froglube.
Glock 19 never had a failure

HK45, 7,000 rounds without a hiccup and it stays tucked under my pillow every night.
I have a Beretta 92fs that was a policia gun with unknown round count. It was my first hicap pistol and the gun I shot all the time. 5000 rounds of anything ,even wolf. Then changed barrels to run a can another 1000 rounds. Never a spring swap on anything. Shoots everything even the gross old "found it in the trunk" ammo. Best 400 I ever spent.

My first pistol Springfield XDm in .40S&W had 2000 rounds through it without so much as a hiccup (had to sell it to buy the wife's engagement ring). It is because of this pistol, and all the other XDs I've shot that I trust my life with Springfields.
Never had a problem with my SP101 357 :) Keeps going round and round. I'd still rather have the G19 with me though which hasn't failed either and carries a lot more rounds.
I have a glock 9mm with over 50k rounds, not a single piece, spring or part replaced (not even mag springs). It has never had a single malfunction and performs like a dream.
I have 6 M&Ps that are getting close to 20k rounds combined. Not a single issue on any of them. Not nearly the 50k on the glock, but cool to see the consistent reliability across multiple models, calibers and production batches.
Favorite gun is an M&P. But most reliable, my glock.

My HK USP.45ACP. Since 1998 and that thing is just a beast
You can laugh now, but my cop trade in smith 4003 is a beast that eats whatever I feed it.

Could the issues you are having be ammo-related? I am not saying that Sigs are infallible but their P229 line usually gets high praise.

since 1987, Sig Sauer 226 "wundernine" - somewhere above 50,000 rounds and two refinish jobs and one spring service - no not even the recoil spring.
they don't make wundernines like they used to - sigh....

Nope . Have had one or more issues with the following Rem UMC 115 , Fed 115 , hand loaded Berry's 124 with 5.5 Power Pistol ( stout ) . Of the six or so times this has happened in the first 400 rounds it has been the same , empty case in the chamber next round wedged into it failure to extract . Lock action open , push round back into magazine , remove magazine , let action close , and then rack the failed round out . Its either burr / tight chamber , weak extractor spring , burred extractor . No issues in first 150 rounds , and lubed like my other Sigs with greased rails . All though I could probably fix piece myself , I purchased new and Sig will take care of it . I guess the new stainless long extractor slides aren't as reliable as the old folded slides . My have the Pro shop work it over while its back , as they will pay the shipping .
Sig 226 Elite:
-With and W/O a can on
-Steel case, coated steel case
-reloads, subsonic reloads
All above without 1 mishap in over 1,000 rounds and counting.

91 w. German Sig p228. One stovepipe was the only malfunction I can ever remember, and that was with a brand new to shooting woman behind the trigger so pretty sure that was a wrist not gun related issue. The one that got away as it were, wish I never sold it.

P226 in it's original caliber - 9mm. Keep the rails lubed with slide glide and they run forever.

I've owned 2 glocks and 3 sigs. All ran flawless. The G17 had at least 15,000 (probably closer to 20K+) rounds through it and with the exception of one batch of bad ammo (reloads), I can't remember having a single malfunction with it.

I never had a single jam with any single-stack 3rd generation S&W, and I've owned half a dozen.
Never had a problem with the three SIG P230 pistols I owned either.
I have never even heard of a Makarov or Jetfire jamming ever.

Realistically the only handgun i've owned that was a consistent problem was an old Grendel P30 22mag. The flimsy mags had paper thin base plate rails that were thinner than a piece of paper. Ammo sensitive and needed to cleaned after 30 rds.

Hi point 9 mm
Very expensive, high class guns. Not everyone can afford, I understand but I have been able to fire a single round every time I pull the trigger. The weapons are so advanced that sometimes after I fire a round two bullets try to chamber at the same time!

Hmm ... tough question. I don't have any unreliable pistols. The Beretta M9 functions as desired every time. The 1911s all function as desired every time. The S&W revolvers all function as desired every time.

Never had a single issue with my sig (current), glocks (past), HKs, but my 1911 is a different story.
revolvers have never been am issue for me :p
My Glock by far the most reliable.
Every Glock I ever owned ran and ran .......... I had a Taurus PT111 that I put upwards of 3,000 rounds through. That old PT was supposed to be a piece of crap. Goes to show you dont believe everything you hear on the internet :)
I've had quite a few that never malfunctioned.
Beretta M9

Most any revolver
;->
Glock 19 2nd Gen. 20 yrs. old. No problem!
Well I didnt own it per-se but the Berretta M-9/ M-9A-1 served me quite whilst in the Marines put around 20,000 rounds through 4 seperate models with only 3 malfunctions, 2 were magazine related, 1 was a glove stuck slide. Definitley not the most ergonomical or coolest new toy but it works.
Sent from my PRC 117A in my Batmobile disguised as a sedan.
My Glock 22, 23 and 27 all ran without fail. I sold the model 22 & 27, but still to this day my Gen 3, Model 23 runs like a top. I recently bought an M&P 9mm and it runs great as well. Years ago I had a USP full-size in .40 cal. It too ran without fail. I would say it's pretty safe to say, you get what you pay for. If you buy a crap gun at a crap price, don't be pissed when it shits the bed.
CZ-85 Combat 9mm. I estimate it has shot around 12,000 rounds without a failure to feed, failure to eject, or a misfire. Angus Hobdell's shop did an action job on it and it still works 100%.
Gen. 3 Glock 19. So far, so good, but I'm only at 2700 rounds (about 2/3 handloads).
Every Glock I've owned has run flawlessly.

To be honest, I have only had one type of malfunction in all the handguns that I have fired. It was a Walther p38 and it stovepiped once. Granted, all the handguns I have shot have been bigger names (Springfield, Glock, S&W, Colt, Remington, Ruger, etc.) I have shot a hi point once, but it was like 5 shots.

The only issue I've ever had with any handgun was with a Para 1440 LDA which I had to adjust the extractor on when new and a Les Baer Premium II which was balky for the first 100 or so rounds and fine thereafter.
I've owned around 15 glocks and have never experienced a malfuntion with any of them. Years ago I went through a Firearms Instuctor Course with my Sig 220. I intentionally did not lube or clean it for the entire week long, 1,000 round course just to see how it would hold up. I had a cleaning kit with me just in case but never had a malfunction then or since.
