New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said on Sunday: Sometimes government does know best. And in those cases, Americans should just cede their rights.“I do think there are certain times we should infringe on your freedom,” Mr. Bloomberg said, during an appearance on NBC. He made the statement during discussion of his soda ban — just shot down by the courts — and insistence that his fight to control sugary drink portion sizes in the city would go forth.

“We think the judge was just clearly wrong on this,” he said, on NBC. “Our Department of Health has the legal ability to do this. … [They’re] not banning anything.”
Mr. Bloomberg’s remaining months in office have included a firestorm of regulations and policy pushes on wide range of issues. Aside from the soda size ban and a well-publicized call for tighter gun control, another contentious policy he pushed: Nudging hospitals to lock up baby formula to force mothers to breast-feed newborns.

As much as I agree with you, from the trends I've seen over the last 4 years or so, I'm not sure it matters what these crazies spew. A large majority of the voting populace, are willing to trade freedom for "security" and "handouts".

Unfortunately, the 53% are cheering for the big gov to take from the 47% to redistribute to them.

I suppose you're correct. Especially the handout thing. I was talking to a gentleman yesterday that didn't want to work over 30hr at Safeway because he'd lose his food stamps and his current rate at a low-income housing complex. Drives me nuts. Anyways, a little off topic. Bloomberg is an Idiot.

Rush was talking about this yesterday while I was driving back to the office from lunch... "We allow you to smoke," said Bloomberg... ALLOW? They ALLOW us to smoke? What a sad excuse for a man and he doesn't deserve to be called an American.
