Alexander the Great speaks of will, our own and the enemy's. The foe, he declares has no chance of overcoming us in the field. But if he can sap our resolution by his doggedness, his relentlessness; if he can appall us by his acts of barbarity, he can, if not defeat us, then prevent us from defeating him. Our will must master the enemy's. Our resolve must outlast his. --Steven Pressfield, The Afghan Campaign

Perfect description for why Iraq basically ignored John Kerry's polite request to stop allowing Iranian supply flights to Syria over Iraq. Our resolve didn't last.

Shame, seems as though my kids, or at best their kids, will have to go back over there (Iraq and Afghanistan) and fight. That would be like me having to go back to Vietnam and fight now after my godfather had already been there in the late 60's. We just aren't in it to win it anymore...

"Being overly concerned with how the world sees us while simultaneously insisting on being the causation of 'change' is recipe for disaster." -Jer, just now

In environments like Afghanistan and perhaps even Iraq, is there anyway to truly "win" without what would effectively be genocide?

You would have to be in for the long haul with a very robust indoctrination program. Target their young, educate them to our way of thinking until you eradicate their culture and beliefs, about 2 generations should do it.

From all I've heard/read, those people aren't worth it. We can't even properly educate our own citizens.

Our own people can't even see the evil fuckers for who they are - in fact they love them. OBAMA PHONE!

Great quotes like these are just ignored by the vast majority of youngsters (future voters) or worse, not even presented by the (leftist) teachers for their consideration.

Dammit I wish vouchers were the law of the land.
