View Full Version : Absurd! VA Cops asked to leave BWW because of their duty guns

I cannot recall who, but I remember some time ago, perhaps just after I joined here, hearing a story about a member going into Buffalo Wild Wings with a pistol on his hip and being asked to leave... You're not alone. Now in Virginia, due to the company's stupid "No Guns" policy, some dimwitted waitress asked ON DUTY plain clothes cops to leave because of their guns! WTF?

Police officers in Manassas, Virginia, captured some media attention over the past few days after reportedly being refused restaurant service — because they were armed. The eight cops were on-duty, but were said to be in plain clothes.According to media reports, when they were approached by a server at Buffalo Wild Wings who saw their guns on display, the worker purportedly told the officers that the establishment was a gun-free zone.
Despite having their badges out, WWBT-TV reports (http://www.nbc12.com/story/21803331/police-officers-deny) that the server still would not take their orders.

I can't help but just shake my head at all of this... Hence why I refuse to give BWW my business. [Shake]

Absurd? Really? Seems that perhaps BWW is trying to make a point... If you support Magpul and LaRue and everybody else for NOT selling to LEO in restricted states, then why don't you support BWW here?

I didn't know this about Buffalo Wild Wings. Now I'm glad I keep resisting the temptation to gorge on their delicious wings, for another reason other than my waistline. I won't be visiting them anymore, ever.

Not selling to LEO is different. The state government has to have to the money to buy the products. They are really blocking the state. The LEO are just the ones who get penalized.

Is that diff from us being penalized?

This is disappointing, I guess I have to eat hooters wing now. Oh well :-)
But is truly sad companies don't stand behind the customers they serve anymore.

I didn't know they had this policy. While I respect their right to have such a policy, I won't be giving them any more money.

If you're in the Aurora area and looking for some great wings, try Golden Flame at Hampden and Tower.

When you start creating exceptions for this group, that group, the other group, policies designed to punish the legislators have no effect. If an ordinary citizen can't carry into establishment A, cops can't carry into establishment A. -Doesn't bother me a bit, nor do I consider it absurd, I find it to be a level of utmost consistency on the part of the establishment that has said policy.

Have you ever been to BWW? They have a strict "No guns" policy. I don't patronize any location that has a policy like that... I'm saying that this is absurd that they turned away ON-DUTY LEOs, with badges clearly displayed.

I am good with this and as business owner I would do the same. If civilians can't carry then no one else can either.

This.

I am starting to see that the 2A supporters are never, ever going to be on the same page...which is exactly what the dems are counting on. My faith in any sort of reversal of fortunes in 2014 and 2016 is eroding day by day...

I hear they just opened a new location in Parker too.

I buy bottles of their Flaming sauce and use it to baste chicken on the grill. Good stuff.

Well, I guess the LEOs won't respond to an armed robbery call at BWW, it would be suicide to enter the building unarmed while there is a robbery in progress.......

Sorry, back on topic. . .

Most establishments with "no-guns" policies make exceptions for LEOs. This move by BWW to apply it to everyone illustrates it is the inanimate object they fear. They refuse to accept a gun is incapable of intent and requires a criminal pulling the trigger in order to do harm. Irrational fear in it's most ridiculous form.

This is my interpretation as well, and precisely why I commented that I would not be dining there anymore... but even if they did serve LEO but not regular joe's, I still wouldn't go back out of principle. I agree, they're perfectly entitled to their own policies and I have no objection to their right to have these policies, I just don't agree with their position, nor would I feel safe in their restaurants, so they won't receive any more of my money.

GOOD!!!

If I can't carry there, than the police shouldn't be able to either. They are no more special than I .....

Private Business are free to choose any policy they want about firearms on the premises. I'm glad they have the same policy for cops as for everyone else.

Yep...their store, their policy, no problem. My money, my choice to spend it where I'm welcome. It won't be BWW. And I'll strongly recommend to everyone I know they not spend their money there, either.

I had my .45 on my hip when I went there a couple of weeks ago. I didn't see any signage about a no gun policy.

I'll never go to one again. Not smart business practice to make a large segment of the population feel unwelcome.

Apparently the policy is only for the 232 corporate-owned stores, not the 420 franchise locations.
