It will be interesting to see how this plays out and the details behind the whole thing.

Story here (http://gunssavelives.net/blog/40-atf-agents-raid-home-of-youtube-gun-personality-fpsrussia/#).

No arrests were made yet. I'm curious what evidence they had other than some YouTube videos of him blowing stuff up.

I wonder how long Hickok45 and Jeff Quinn have.

Tannerite & the ATF...more tax dollars down the toilet. Why can't they concentrate on the drug cartels and the terrorists. Same for the asshat that says Trayvon looks like the son he never had...

"Federal agents, accompanied by Georgia Bureau of Investigation agents and deputies with the sheriff’s offices in Franklin and Hart counties, raided the Royston residence of Myers."

I took a class with two GBI agents last summer. I wonder if they were part of this.

Better delete that YouTube video I have of shooting and blowing up a small thing of tannerite... [facepalm]Has anyone else noticed that the ATF is starting to be like Jim Carrey- they just need to go away.

Bullshit. Guy has cool guns and tannerite and then the ATF rolls up on your door. If he was any type of criminal there would have been a lot of dead cops on his property. Just another law abiding citizen getting their life fucked up by some overzealous assholes.

I think the claim was is you need a liscense to use explosives for commercial/profit use. Since he obtains big income from youtube, arguing his use of tannerite in the video's constituted violation of that law. Pretty weaksauce.

Well, this answers the very first question I had:
"Police would not say if a 40+ officer raid on the actor’s home was in connection to that murder."

hickok and jeff don't blow stuff up. the story clearly said the raid was about explosives.

of course, it's not a surprise they'd raid they guy since they killed his partner already....

I thought I've seen Hickok45 blow up tannerite before (this is such a non issue I'm about to delete this post). Feds raiding him = trash.

So using legal binary explosives in a video for profit is illegal? WTF? Can't the BATFE find something better to do?

No they can't. Before they spent many of your tax $$$ on this a simple house call might have worked but it seems that in this day and age a full on SWAT team is necessary just to ask a question when firearms are involved.[Bang]

That'll teach him to show guns in a safe, fun, entertaining light. Don't you know guns (and pop tarts) are scary and to be feared.

He makes money off of people viewing the ads and not his videos content so does that apply. Part of the article said

“The way I understand it they were using Tannerite. It’s legal up to a certain amount and agents were looking for any violations of federal guidelines,”
Is there a limit? I am pretty sure there is no limit on 2 separate chemicals if not mixed. It really sounds like a fishing trip for the alphabet agencys.

There may not be a "legal limit" but buy enough of 1/2 of a chemical that when mixed with another chemical can create an explosion and see what happens (i.e. 1 ton of fertilizer).

s (i.e. 1 ton of fertilizer).

man that is a bunch of bullshit [ROFL1]

i gotta tell you guys that even being a part of discussion boards like this makes me nervous these days. i dont own anything that would be considered illegal for any reason, but the temperature of the waters these days makes anyone who owns a gun a real target for investigation.

everyone holds onto the thought that law enforcement wont go after the normal guy who is not a criminal cause they are all a bunch of normal guys, but then you keep seeing the stories like this and the little 11 year old and his dad after posting on youtube, and others.

they flip the f... out over 1600 rounds they find in a home, crap that is not even enough to practice with,

what would the headlines read if they actually went into a home that actually had some ammo. I dont know any gun owner that only has 1600 rounds

I would bet farmers buy at least one ton of fertilizer and several hundred gallons of diesel fuel when spring rolls around. Does it mean they are making explosives? I don't think so, I think they need it to do a job.

The ATF and other abc agencies are running around flexing their muscle, and acting like jack booted thugs. What about all the gang bangers owning firearms while dealing drugs, seems that's right up the ATF's alley. Maybe they should go do investigate that. But then again that would be deemed racist, or profiling, or some other ridiculous libtard buzzword.

All I am saying is that there are tighter controls on such things as large fertilizer sales than most people realize. And relating this to the OP, there may be other substances that also get the same type of attention when purchased in large quantities (Tannerite).

And you probably won't get a second look if you are a farmer who's been doing business with the same supplier for years or even changing suppliers but with a track record for purchasing the same material. On the other hand, I would expect to get a lot of questions and be put on hold if you don't seem to actually be a farmer or roll in from out of town with a panel van to get a large quantity. This is where law enforcement and the government are just wanting the sellers to exercise some judgment, NOT "running around flexing their muscle, and acting like jack booted thugs."

You could drive into Home Depot today and purchase 500lbs of fertilizer without an eye being raised, and do the same at Lowes, Ace Hardware, most feed stores, etc. and have way more than a ton of fertilizer by the end of the day. Diesel fuel? are you kidding me? Just call up Hill Petroleum and they will deliver you a 1000gal tank as soon as your funds clear. Black powder is available over the counter in every Wal-mart and sporting goods store. Dynamite can be purchased with just a drivers license in several states. If you want something, its not that hard to get it.
Purchase and possession is not the issue, there are legitimate reasons you may need dynamite, or any one of several other complaints and they are relatively lightly regulated. The problems come in when you are found to have amounts above some arbitrary quantity on hand, and how it is being stored or used. Doing a bit of mining on the weekends prospecting out a claim hoping to strike it rich is a legitimate use for having a bit of dynamite. Blowing stumps out of the back forty or muzzleloader shooting is a legitimate use of black powder. Owning 5 trucks tractors etc that tun almost nonstop is legit reason to have a couple thousand gallons of deisel fuel on hand. Prepping- literally stockpiling diesel etc. is a legitimate reason to have it.
The issues always come about when you have above X amount, or you have done something that could be construed as an illegitimate use of the items, like packing a steel pipe full of ball bearings and black powder...
No arrests made in this article more or less points to a witch hunt, likely brought on by some concerned citizen who "saw something" and dropped a dime.

I'm still wanting to know what this 'evidence' was that they used to secure a search warrant. People wonder why the approval rating of LE by the general public continues to fall and then something like this happens. Again.

Did anyone notice how the Feds just "notified" the local Sheriff's office of the raid[s]? Is this the new level of 'cooperation' that our County's Finest can now expect from the Feds? I see many things in this article with cause for concern, not the most obvious is the large number of "forces" used for just a search...
