It gets the most traffic and I want all of your opinions. I also posted this question on AR15.com. Here goes:
My current AR is chambered in 6.8 spc. It's a dpms panther m4gery. I'm looking to add a complete 16" 223/556 upper to the kit so I can shoot it for less than $1/round. Any recommendations to whose complete upper I should get? Where to buy it? Jensens/5280 Armory/Bowers???
PLease don't recommend a build, I have far too much house crap to get done, the fairer half would never go for it.
Thanks!
Bowers can get you a decent deal on an LMT upper, I believe...I lucked out on my DPMS 5.56 upper...picked it up at the Tanner Show for $400 out the door back in March I think...
www.ar15sales.com .. Stag is a good deal for the money, RRA uppers through him too. I've found the best prices through those guys unless you snag a used upper from BARFCOM ect..
You might also consider checking with Alan Samuel too.. they've often got some good deals, Aloha River is another good board supporter. 5280, Jensens and the majority of other locals are priced above what you'll generally pay for an equivelent piece of gear via an internet seller.
Guess the real question is, how much are you willing to spend?

I think I'll get to spend whatever I can pry out of my wife's hands. Most likely $600 or so. The online route looks like the way to go. $600 + 1000 rounds or .223 is still cheaper than 1k rounds of 6.8
Talk to Alan Samuel here on the boards. He has a forum under Machine Gun Tours.
I know he has several upper sin stock for some very reasonable prices.
He can also build you exactly what you want if you need something custom.

you could always sell me the 6.8 upper and add that to the 600 you might be able to get out of your financial advisor for your new upper....... [Tooth]

+1 for Pete at Legal Transfers. I got my RRA mid-length upper and he had the best deal going. Which upper you get depends on what you're looking for. Ultra-light, M-4, mid-length, HBAR, etc.

Just as soon as I have the $$ in my tight little fist. The finance minister is out of town until Friday.
