I will be taking some co-workers to the South Site Oct 18th. All are welcome to join. We will meet at the Micky D in Woodland Park @0930. I had a request for the .50, so I will bring it. As usual, my guns are available to all, but bring your own ammo(except .50). Ammo must be factory mfg., and Wolf is ok. Come out before the snow hits.Ryan

I'd love to join you all but I'll be headed for the happy hunting grounds on Oct 15th and I'm hoping that by the time you reach the South Site I'll be field dressing my elk.

I might have time to actually make this get-together!

If so, I do have a variety of guns folks are welcome to try but nothing as awesome as a .50 cal! [Neene3] (Maybe eventually...)

If you folks haven't seen/built one of these, it's incredibly cheap/easy and very applicable for the south spot:

Hope to see you and I'll try to check back more often.

From Deckers, south on 67. it's about 11-12 miles.. You almost can't miss it. It's the first/only right turn You can make that's not somebody's driveway..

I might have to take a break from moving to join in on the fun.

I'd like to make this shoot so, as suggested in a previous thread, I can "try before I buy." However, I just want to make sure I respect everyone else's firearms, and bring appropriate ammo.

Do you all prefer a certain brand? Grain? etc.? Also, what is the most common chambering you guys have, .223 or 5.56?

Thanks!

RYAN50BMG

As far as my guns are concerned, any ammo that is factory mfg. is ok, including Wolf and the like. 5.56, 9mm, 7.62x39, and .308 are the most common guns that show up.

Still on the fence if i'll be there or not. Still gotta convince the wife. I just got my WASR AK so i'm dieing to get out and shoot it, hoping this weekend will be good a go.

JustSomeDude: If i show, anything factory. I plink with Wolf, so that's fine with me. And unless it's a wylde chamber, everyones AR is going to be chambered for both .223 and 5.56mm. They'll let you know if it's not, so just get .223 and you'll be good to go.

I'll be unarmed in California...it's a nice place to eat, but I wouldn't want to live there.

well doesn't look like i will be able to make it. its a 2 hours drive then i would have to leave early to get up to estes for my buddys wedding. Just not worth the gas to drive 2 hours down then 2.5 up to estes and who knows how much it would cost me in gas for my truck!
Maybe next time, or when there is a shoot at the north site.

Looks like my plans have changed so I won't be up in the mountains this weekend. Instead I think I'll head to the South site. Got the new Saiga 12 to try out :D

Anyone from the north Denver area want to carpool down there?

I would like to go. I am in Westminster, and would be willing to carpool with someone down there. Would also appreciate any help anyone would be willing to give on getting my AR sighted correctly. If anyone wants any bowling pins to shoot at I have about 30 of them and would be more than happy to bring a case or 2.

I'm in Westminster as well (120th/Federal), but still not sure if i'll be heading down or not. Waiting for the wife to get home from work to decide what we're doing tomorrow.

Al_g comes from up North, perhaps you two could meet up and carpool if i don't go? If i end up going, you're more than welcome to ride down with me.

Sent you a PM with my number. Getting an AR sighted in shouldn't be a problem. If you are using standard iron sights on an A2 print a few of these out http://www.bobdbob.com/~deneb/doc/targets/m16a2-25m-zero.pdf (http://www.bobdbob.com/%7Edeneb/doc/targets/m16a2-25m-zero.pdf) . There are also slightly different targets you can print out for M4 style AR15 or eotech's, but I can't seem to find them at the moment.

Of course it isn't that big of a deal to zero on regular targets just makes it a tad easier to count squares :)

Had a great time out there. The turnout was awesome, better then I've ever seen the north site.

I put 4 rounds through the 50 and had a huge smile :D I also put 4 magazines through the m16 and 2 through the Uzi. Too bad the prices on machines guns are artificially inflated due to the Feds.

I also got my Saiga-12 out for the first time. Overall it shot very well. Put 25 rounds of the Winchester super-handicap through it with no problems except that 5 rounds go so fast in it [Tooth] Then tried about 10 rounds of the Federal value pack and it was short stroking and not ejecting. Switched back to the other 25 round box of the Winchester with no problems. By the last 15 rounds of the 100 value pack it was working perfectly. Now to convert it and get some 10 round magazines and a 20 round drum.

The weather was perfect, The smell of gun powder was in the air, And the shell casings never stopped flying. Thanks Ryan for bringing some of my all time favorites, Al, Shooting your Saiga-12 makes me want one, Thanks for that. Today was my fathers first full auto experience and I quote " Son why don't you have one of these". Great day on the range, Thanks all!!!

This was a GREAT weekend for shooting. Thanks to all that came out. We had some folks from Colorado Four Wheelers and some of my co-workers from Loomis Armored come out for the first time. When we pulled up to the shoot site, Marlin already had the Stars and Stripes and the COAR flag flying. Thanks, it looked great. I would like to say to the "regulars" that I appriciate that you are all so ready to share your toys with new folks, thats how we change minds and win friends. We will do it again soon. Ryan
