Was bored last night so i took a quick trip ro the Sportsman Warehouse in Thorton. Wasnt expecting to walk out of there with something but just wanted to look around.

So why is it every time i go there people open up the hunting ammo boxes and look at the rounds?

Out of all of the THOUSANDS of rounds I have bought over the years at Wal-MArt and Sportsman I have never had a box that had the wrong rounds in it.

Thanks

v.intr.To speak or write in an angry or violent manner; rave.

v.tr.To utter or express with violence or extravagance

Maybe we can get the thread title changed to something like "Soft spoken observations pertaining to the uncouth behaviors of Sportman's Warehouse patrons"

I don't want to be the guy that gets out to the range and opens up a box of 9mm to find out its .380, so yep I open up every box before I buy it locally, and I also open up every box after ups drops it off as well, I had a box of 10mm once and something must of fallen on it or it was a factory slip up and the bullet was pushed way into the brass on all 5 rounds on the end, and the box was undamaged, if fired it could have led to a serious over pressure situation, so yes Ill keep opening them and looking.

Damaged rounds, not wrong rounds?

If you post a rant, it will get rated. We're just poking a little fun.

Lack of swearing. No all caps. No exclamation points. No philosophical opinion on how it could have gone right. 1/10

I think a lot of people are curious to see what premium hunting ammo looks like. When paying up to $3.50/rd I want to see what I'm buying. Plinking 9mm? No.

Isn't there a zero returns policy on ammo?

I got home to find one round missing...that only happened once. I always open them and double check that the box is whole.

This, and if buying the buffalo bore ammo I like to know what bullet they happen to be using.

Around 2006, I purchased a WWB 223 at WMT. Went to the range, and it had 22-250 in it. :(
I get a permission to open the box, before I buy em.

Your question really seems to be about the people at SW, not SW itself. Therefore...

"DISQUALIFIED": Lack of swearing and misleading title.

Getting permission FIRST is the secret. The few times that I have sold new/unopened ammo on my occasional tables, I post a sign "DO NOT OPEN ANY BOXES OF MY AMMO - IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE CONTENTS, LET ME KNOW AND I''LL GLADLY OPEN THE BOX AND LET YOU LOOK ALL YOU LIKE", I got so damn tired of people ripping/tearing the boxes open only to put them down and just walk away. I open them with CARE. Is this a "rant" - I guess so! [blaster]

This is too funny...Last year, I bought a box of 22-250 at wal mart was sitting in their Mc D's opened the box to find someone had put 223 rounds in there stead. I went to customer service where the manager refunded my purchase since I hadn't left the store. It seems an employee was making the switch and later buying his 22-250 at 223 discount prices.

I bought a box of Weatherby 257 mag from them, went to the range and opened the box and someone had swaped a round from a different box/caliber. When I told SW what had happened they said there was nothing they could do. I understand why they can't take ammo back. From then on I took the box to the register and asked if could inspect the rounds.

Bought a bunch of .223 wolf from Sporstman's Warehouse about 7 years ago without checking contents. When I went to load some range mags, discovered about 20% of the casings where rusted on the surface. It all wiped off with a little elbow grease and all shot fine, but I have checked every box since then.

Hahahahaha, im lafing a lot with this thread, I do it every single time that I bought any kind of ammo, and you know what? I have no idea why hahaha

Maybe because is not the same read the specifications of the ammo in the box than looking the bullet :-)
